Hi,
Here is a post I made on TDG, It could interest you too.
-----------------------------------------------------
I hope not to open still opended door.
I did a lot of research for my Snd Battle of France scenario, especialy on transportation units. It gave a funny thread where I was obliged to admit that only transportation untis could transport trrops !!!!
Thanks to Collin Wright.
But to continue on transportation units, I spent time to understand what could be under TOAW definition the
truck
Light armored truck
Medium armored truck
Armored Truck - with AGL
Truck could be any truck or vehicle non armored and non armed, so Jeep, M998 humvee and all trucks in generic sense
But what's about light armored trucks, truck with light armor, I know very few of them except that link
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m998.htm
which helped me a lot
Looking at the M998 definition I read with basic armor so :surprise:-> light armored
continuing with this page, you can see too that for M1109/M1114 are up armored or up armored trucks as defined in other url I visited. -> Medium armored trucks
And especialy for the M1x43 series which carry the MK19 40mm Grenade launcher which is under TOAW the Armored truck - AGL ( automatic grande launcher)
To return on transportation thread, I saw that 2,5 units could be carried. It has sense for big trucks but for most of Jeep, Humvees , French P4, you can carry only 5 to 8 people.
so and for a quick conclusion truck is a large generic term for transportation units from light transport to heavy truck
To define a transport ratio use 1 "truck" for 2 squad in case of small unit and 5 squads for 2 "trucks".
for modern scenarios keep in memory that armament carrier humvees are light armored truck, and up armored humvees are armored trucks
Der Wanderer;)
