I've been playing DG for just under a month now. Been lurking on this forum for just as long. I love the game. I really do. The cat and mouse of sending out TF's to try to catch the weak enemy while at the same time not being caught by a superior foe is something I have never had to deal with in any other game I've played. It's truly unique to me & I've been enjoying it immensely.

There are 2 things that have soured me on this otherwise enjoyable game. The bugs and the lack of information (read.me) on patches.

I have little time to play the game let alone be a beta tester. Some of the bugs that have cropped up are true campaign killers and I thought that I was buying a game that was finished. I am an avid gamer & have honestly have never been in this situation before. Off this week & want to play DG but don't want to waste the time when I feel that I should wait on a patch that will finally finish the game.

It's great that patches have been provided frequently but inexcusable that there isn't a read me accompanying the patches. How am I to know that the bug I just encountered is thought to have been fixed already?

I'm sorry that my first post comes across as negative. I am only writing because I want to see improvement & I'm honestly wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way about it. The truth is, I want to play the game without campaign killing bugs. I expected that when I purchased it. I don't have the leisure time to start a new campaign from scratch each time a patch is released and frankly, I don't think I should have to.

I'm sure the natural question that comes to mind is: "What bugs?". Every bug I've seen has already been posted about in this forum. I'll go into the details if it matters but what I'm really looking for is a patch level when I can start a campaign and play it all the way through. I'm not *****ing just to *****. Hell, I'm a lurker. I've been drawn out because I've enjoyed the game so much between the bugs and want to play the whole campaign. Pisses me off that I've got a week off and don't want to play because of the bugs.

If anyone from the dev team is reading please include a patch read me in the future so we can tell what is expected to be fixed with the patch.

Thanks.

PS - Thanks much to the posters on this forum. I didn't know scratch about this conflict before buying & have gained a lot of info from all the lurking. Not to exclude anyone but especially appreciate the frequent posts by Bullethead & all that take time to post AAR's. Please keep sharing. Thx.

Quite a few of us have asked for patch readme's and it is a perfectly valid request. Other than a few lines in a post from L'empereur though the dev's don't seem to be keen on this for some reason.

Bullethead is indeed a living library isn't he. I am constantly amazed at how thoroughly he delves into the minutiae of the game and always comes up with something new I had never realised before.

I agree completely... also, kinda afraid that when the time comes and I can play a complete campaign without crashes or weird behaviours, I'll be sick and tired of the game.

Lurkers Unite!

The lack of readme's for patches is indeed dismaying. I've been playing pc games and working in the IT field since, well since the IBM PC, and I think I can safely say it's an expected standard.

The lack of readme's is especially disappointing considering how easily it could be remedied. I mean, the folks writing the patches must have a task list they are working from, how much trouble could it be to post it to these forums or something?

Like jfarrow, I love this game and want to again thank the Storm Eagle team for fufilling my dream of a serious pre-dreadnought-era sea sim. Some polishing around the edges will go a long way in turning a great game into a magnificent game.

I am holding off for the same reasons. I stopped playing DG and will wait till its patched up to an acceptable level. I come the forums every week and check if the game is ready or not. At this point I feel it is still too buggy. With no multiplayer campaign I feel that replayability is limited, so when I start a campaign against the AI, I want to play that with a finished game and not a beta.

And the no readme policy for patches is really annoying.
