I got ATF a while ago and love it even though it's kicked my butt more times than I can remember. I'm not a solder (though I play one on my computer) but I've picked up a few things from reading.

I found the Breaching 101 info EXTREMELY useful. Even after having read it and applied it many, many time in BCT there were some things I had to relearn for ATF. Are there other articles like this available anywhere?

I recommend you take a close look at the FM 3-90. If you google it, you will probably find a copy. It talks about all of the different tactical operations Army forces do, and how US Army planners think about them/structure them for execution. It is one of my favorite manuals.

Thanks Pat. I'll check it out.

FM 3-90 is really nice indeed, thanks Pat (I apparently have to spread some reputation before I can hit you again... so there!).

Similarly to Arno in another thread, would anyone have a PDF of FM 3-90? The Global Security version is in HTML, MajorH's library doesn't have it and all that google lead to are PDF that are password protected from military sites.

I can deal with the html version, but PDF would be even better so I can annotate the document.

Thanks,

Shoot me an email and I will send it to you. Also will send FM 90-4.

Bongostatic-
I also have it if Underdog doesn't help you (which is unlikely :)). Drop me a Strategyzone private email w/ your email and I will forward it.

John, James and Bill, you are awsome!

Thanks a lot, not only this will may aleviate the butt-kicking that I get in ATF, but is it written with the clarity of pseudo-code so I can implement these in my AI routines "by-the-book".

This is actually how all of the friendly AI missions are written!

The Tactics 101 article on the Decisive Point (http://www.armchairgeneral.com/articles.php?cat=71) was very good. The concept finally made sense to me (e.g., how it could both be a point in space or a point in time). The other articles are good, too.

William-
thanks for that link. I'm looking forward to reading all of these articles (well, maybe not the one on Pentagon mission planning :clown:).
