Could someone please tell me if it's possible when building a scenario to assign 2 different paths to an enemy hierarchy and 2 different missions to that hierarchy, if so how to go about doing it or where i could find out how to do it. I had a look through the the online help at Prosim but i couldn't but couldn't see what i was looking for.

Having looked at the online help closer, i think it's that i don't understand how to copy a route to the clipboard.

Having tried a few things out and reading the online help a bit more i still don't understand how to get my hierarchy to go to point A or point B via route A or route B. It's probably quite simple but i really need some help(step by step preferably)

Here is the procedure:

1. Open the scenario in the Scenario Builder
2. Plan a path for the unit
3. Select the "Copy" function from the "Edit" toolbar.
4. Select "Environment" from the "Component" menu.
5. Select the "Add" button
6. Select AI Order
7. Specify the enemy hierarchy you want in "Hierarchy Name"
8. Select the "Order" button
9. Select "Assign Path".
10. You will be prompted about using the path from the clipboard. Select yes.
11. "OK" out of everything.

Repeat for the second path.

For missions, plan each mission for the hiearchy, then give the hierarchy a mission of none.

Then, repeat all of the steps above for each mission, but select "AI Order" instead of Assign Path in 9, and select each desired mission when prompted.

Clear as mud?

Thanks for the help Pat, i'll get back to you if the clear mud turns out be muddy mud. One more question though, if i,m using the envioment/coponent bit to identify the diferent paths that i want to use, then what's the pre-requiste data bit for when you go into the Faction AI ?

Unfortunately Pat after selecting enviroment from the component menu and then selecting ADD , i'm presented with a window with options AI INDIRECT FIRE RULE DISMOUNT RADIUS FORCE COLOR GAME YEAR PHASE ORDER etc. but not AI ORDER as in part 6 of your instructions. Something's gone very wrong here.:OHNO:

Sorry. It has been a while since I actually BUILT a scenario. You are correct. You must go to FACTION AI to add the order. Here are revised procedures.

1. Open the scenario in the Scenario Builder
2. Plan a path for the unit
3. Select the "Copy" function from the "Edit" toolbar.
4. Select "Enemy" from the "Faction AI" sub-menu of the "Unit" menu.
5. Select the "Add" button from the PREREQUISITE DATA window
6. Add a Path Data item. When prompted for whether to use the copied path, answer yes.
7. Select the phase to which you want to add the order and "Edit"
8. Select "Add" from phase orders.
9. Specify the trigger for the order.
10. In the "Hierarchy Orders" select add
11. Specify the hierarchy target
12. Select the "Assign Path" order and specify the path data item in "Data References"
13. OK out of everything.

Repeat 1-13 for the second path

For Missions, select "AI Order" instead of "Assign Path" in 12 and specify the mission you want to give.

I am doing all of this from memory, so you may, well, find some errors. Curt and Gary may be able to give you better procedures.

Pat i was having a problem figuring out what to do after i selected ROUTE. On the next menu that comes up ADD DATA REFERENCES i kept pressing the add button and getting nowhere, then one time i pressed DELETE then OK and i arrived at the ORDER DATA EDIT DIALOG which is where i name my route then select OK. Is that right, it just seemed a bit of a wierd way of getting there. It would be great if there were instructions for the scenario builder that went into as much depth as say the instructions for the game or at least a more detail than the online help. For the lay person such as myself there's a lot of trial and error involved. Lots of error in my case.
