Here's a few sinking ship images. Please add to the list. Include them whether dramatic, tragic, plain odd or simply amusing.

Ships can die alone, on the open sea miles from home, victims of a raiding cruiser...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death2_NotLooking.jpg
Ships can die through not watching what's going on - don't concentrate on killing that weak target nearby but keep a careful watch in other directions!

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death3_GangOfThugs.jpg
I call this the Gang of Thugs. They can be Japanese or Russian and are usually found in groups of four and delight in ganging up on smaller weaker foes. Even when the enemy is defeated they just keep on kicking him while he's down.

Death can come suddenly one moment you have a ship...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death4_Explosion2.jpg
...and the next you don't. Check the two clock times.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death5_Surprise.jpg
Ships can die while taken by surprise. Two cruisers and a destroyer flotilla meet some battleships and a lot of cruisers one dark night...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death6_Searchlight.jpg
The Lost Soul... The white light below the wreck isn't the captain going to heaven but the searchlight still lit. Must be well waterproofed wiring and circuit breakers.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death7_Pounded.jpg
Ships can refuse to die. They are pounded into a twisted shambles but stay afloat...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death8_Whoops.jpg
Or they can die suddenly and without warning. I call this one the 'Whoops!'

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death9_Cripple.jpg
Cripples may need to be finished off by torpedoes...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death10_TorpedoMagazine1.jpg
Which sometimes can hit a magazine: #1 the tin fish approach...

...and #2 KA-POW!

A few more...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death11_SternGently.jpg
Ships can just seem to be very tired and sink down gently on an even keel...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death12_Awash.jpg
This ship wasn't actually sinking at this stage but I have never seen decks so awash without a black dot.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death13_Viking.jpg
This one is the Viking Funeral. Cue the stirring Wagnerian music!

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death14_Listing.jpg
Ships can lean over as though in need of a rest. I've never seen a list this severe before.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death15_SevereUnderwater.jpg
Once the hull is exposed you often find out why so much water got inside...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death16_StepOff.jpg
For some crew it is simply a matter of stepping off into the sea and swimming away...

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death17_Together.jpg
Ships can fight together... and die together.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death18_PickUpSurvivors.jpg
Sometimes there is honour in war and a raider can stop to pick up survivors.

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22426/Death19_NearMiss.jpg
Sometimes there is humour. "Well done helmsman! A weeks shore leave for you when we get to port!"

Witnessed my first magazine explosion in a computor generated batte yesterday, and it was a torpedo hit that did it. Cant remember which hapless Russian ship it was but the torp hit and there was a big bright explosion, the little coloured light whent black, and I put the cursor over the ship and was greeted with "crew abandoning ship, ship sinking in 23 seconds" wow !

Hehehe, I love that pic of Yoshino about to get blindsided by that torp :D.

In the interests of having mercy on those with low bandwidth, I'm just attaching a pic instead of showing it directly.

This pic shows a bunch of ships about to die in what will soon be an horrific point-blank schlachfest. It's from the "Tsushima Engaged" scenario. Previously, Mikasa and Suvorov had closed head-on to within 500 yards and then each turned 90^ to starboard, so the lines are now heading directly away from each other. However, each ship in line on both sides is still coming within 500 yards of an enemy at the turning points and getting hammered in its turn. Meanwhile, as shown here, the head of the Russian line is cutting through an IJN cruiser unit. Kasagi has just put 2 torps into the 3rd Russian BB, but is about to collide with and stop the 2nd. The resulting trainwreck, with the whole Russian line and other IJN units continuing to pile into this melee, killed a great many ships on both sides :D.

This poor ship ran into my main battle fleet in the dark, well 3 did and not one made it out.

Looks like your Russian Destroyer got a torpedo into the Japanese ship!
