just thinking out loud with this one,but during a game of gettysburg another bde commander bit the dust and in steps colonel anonymous.now i have too many colonel anonymous,s on the field and was wondering if it was within the realms of possibility to have historical 2nd in commands taking over the brigades/divisions/corps.i realise it would involve a bit more work but would look so much better.if you play scenarios from different days you get the historical commanders if one was replaced so the info is there.
or is there more to it than that?.

If the scenario designer puts the leaders in the OOB, then that can take place, otherwise its an auto assignment.

Problem is though, many times the leaders you see in other scenarios were moved from different commands to take the roll, based on senority. So that level of replacement is not possible.

I had a funny occurence at Stones River where Captain Morton was promoted over the three wing commanders to command the XIV Corps! He had a better leadership, see?

One other funny one was in HPS Peninsula where Major Lovell in Sykes Division (a Major) was killed and replaced by a colonel!! I found that funny.
