Ive started a Russian campaign again - implement lessions learned you know;)
I sent the Vladivostoc 3 AC out to Matsumai to see if I can whittle down that mass of TBD/TB that gave me a whacking in the earlier campaign:halo:
Ooo! what do I encounter? .... 1 AC, 6PC and 22 TBD/TB
Took a bit of careful maneouvering over 3hrs 56min (gametime) and Im ashamed to say that 3 TBD escaped ... but Whee-Haa!! that was a good battle:joy:
So then my attention goes to PA where The old IJN BB and 3 PC plus some TBD's have just caught and sunk a minelayer and few a hrs later nearly got the other one .....
Right then .. feeling cocky (and lucky) I readied the PA BB's and 2 PC's and 8 TBD and when there are set, I send a gunboat out and... yes!! there they are!
Out with the Heavy TF and I catch them and sank them to the last one ..Hoo Boy! watta day!!:horse:
.... that was the high point
on the way back, at dawn.... whoops! here are 6 IJN BB and 6 AC ... all going 17kts ... I have 3 that can do 18kts, 3 16kts and the poor Tessarovitch can only scrape 15kts.
I have twice fought the PA BB's vs IJN BB/AC and each time recieved a 'Jolly good drubbing' ...
Lets face it, they have better speed, better armour, .. in fact a better fleet......so ... better get out of there ;) I chose to run .....
Well they gained of course, when they were about 8000 m away I did a smart turn about of the TBD flottilla and ran straight down their throats .. lost all of them of course but they did damage the leading BB (not dropped the speed tho) and I gained about 7000m for the BB's with that:D
I had cranked up all ships to do best speed so Tessie was the first they caught up with ....soon all guns were out of action but she was still going strong at 15kts - whatta girl! - so I began to weave in front of the enemy line and had them weaving off course ... which was nice :D but all too soon she went down :salute: but bought some more distance
Then Petropavlovsk was next .. but she deserves a commendation for shear resilience ... even with most of the guns out I managed to again weave in front of their line and gained more distance .... and bless her! she must have started some fires in the leading ship because it went orange and speed slowed to 8 kts (later sank!) ..
But ewps! the rest formed on next in line and speed went to 18kts :surprise:
But before they caught up with the rest I approached PA and they broke off.
I LOVE this game!:toast:
