View Full Version : Ammo bug?
First post here, and it is a problem I am starting to find with my TFs after a resupply at base. I am starting to find my ships not firing their guns at all during battles, and only use their torpedoes. I first got this problem with Gromoboi, but I just found out that now Lyena is cursed with the same trouble.
The only thing that I can see out of ordinary is that the main gun ammo is "overloaded", and so is Lyena.
I am attaching a screenie of Gromoboi 3 battles after resupply. It hasn't done any shooting at all, regardless of range or target. It had however, dispatched 3 more marus with torpedoes...
hm,
don`t know, have to check the Ammo status of "Lyena" as she fired only the big guns last time, the 75mm stood silent.

yup,
you`re definatly at something here.
"Lyena" has 1,506 75mm rounds loaded, maximum is 1,500. Guns aren`t firing.
Have you sent this bug report to SES support?

edit No. 2: hm, just saw that IIRC Varayag had 3,012 75mm rounds loaded at a max. of 3,000. Her guns fired fine though.
Yes this ammo bug happens in campaign every so often.
Looks like it happens after the auto-battle, when a gun mount on a ship used all its ammo, the gun-mount ammo counter shows (full ammo + 1) instead of zero ammo. If it happens the gun mount will never fire (till the rest of the campaign) and I could not find a way to reset the ammo counter to normal, at least resting, repairing, making ready do not help.
I started the new compaign in v1.015 and this bug is still there.

I think this is an error caused by limited PC resources. DG runs fine on my desktop with all settings at max but on my laptop it struggles and one of the features of laptop play is some non-firing ships. I notice these ships also lack wakes and smoke animation so I know when a scenario starts which ships will be crewed by the conscientious objectors. Sometimes a save and reload will cure it (a reboot can help too) so it's clearly a resource issue. Try dialling your settings down a bit and see if that helps.

I can not get it. It's not a graphic glitch or crash to desktop (graphics/memory issue). If the ammo counter shows (full load)+1 ammo after the auto-battle (which performs in text mode) - that's something wrong with the game code. The problem might be with variable/variables responsible for ammo counting. Hope developers can trace and fix it without difficulties.

OK, fair point. I hadn't seen whether the ammo load out was wrong I just had experienced non-firing ships.
yup,
without the 75mm guns firing, "Lyena" is almost useless. I even had trouble sinking one Auxiliaty Cruiser with only the 120mm guns.
I too hope the smaller guns (<70mm) are firing one day too as they could help in the defense against DDs and it would be more fun hunting down Aux cruisers. For now they are just slaughtered.

Well that is even worse in my case, with the main gun not working, the ships fires no guns at all, not even the locally directed guns, not fun when trying to fend off 5 destroyers with torpedoes only.
Not playing my game for the moment, as it feels like cheating that even though Adzuma and Yakumo still runs away every time it sights my cruiser squadron, but in reality, the 2 Japanese ships can easily sink my other 2 old ACs.
