Nicely written. Maybe it will bring more gamers into the fold.

BTW -- is the caption on your first screenshot correct? Seems like it should be a Russian torpedo, unless it's friendly fire. :hmmm:

Thanks. That torp is outward bound.

FWIW, they chopped my bibliography in half.

Thanks, Herman. After writing that review and doing a Pacific Storm preview, I'll take a break by getting back into H3.

I didn't thought that people who begun to play table wargames in 60s are still playing, and especially playing PC games...

Anyway, awesome review, I liked it.

Thanks. I switched to PCs in the '80s and am gradually selling off my board games. We're not THAT old!

Nice read sir.

I sold most of my boardgames as well, except for a few I just can't seem to let go.

As usual, good writing.

However, the sun now sets in the west :).

Yeah, that's what happens when you have a deadline. They'll probably fix the gun arcs. I hate it when people fix their games after a review.

I no longer visit either the wargamer website or it's forums.

The outfit is far too cozy with their advertisers and I fervently believe that the forum staff serve as surrogates/proxies for developers and publishers.

But, the most reprehensible aspect of the operation is their promotion of third-party spamming of the forums, a practice which I believe shatters the credibility of the organization.

Several years back, I provided a substantial contribution to the wargamer when they declared their imminent financial collapse.

It was a mistake to have done so.

Save your time, and don't bother visiting the wargamer as they are in the pockets of the companies who buy the ads and spam their forums.

If you seek informed opionion about a wargaming product, then seek out untainted, independent sources before making a purchase.

Jim, I enjoyed reading the review as well as your excellent article on the Russo-Japanese War. (http://distantguns.xtreme-gamer.com/?p=12)

instead of ranting about how much you hate the wargamer why not list some "untainted, independent sources" for us to check out? :)
