Ok folks, I've been primarily a landlubber for decades. Main game is ASL and main interest is WWII land combat, although I've had occasional bouts of WWII Pacific theater (War in the Pacific - Gary Grigsby's, Matrix's, and even the ancient SPI monster game from the 1970's, older computer games like Fighting Steel - remember that one???).
Never even knew the Russians and Japanese had a war in 1904-1905. :hmmm:
All of my posts to date have been in the ASL forum. So I'm in there, and I keep seeing the banner for Distant Guns, for months now it seems.
Finally clicked on the banner yesterday.
Downloaded the 30 day trial immediately afterward, and will be ordering the full game as soon as I'm done typing this.
What a game!!!!!
PS - also spent about an hour reading all about the Russo-Japan war of 1904-1905 on Wikipedia..... Japanese sneak attack on a port? Where have I heard that before?
Don't rely on Wikipedia; here's the scoop:

Jeff you are in for a treat, let me say, I have been playing this game for a couple weeks now and I just keep finding awesome things in it.
It is in depth, but no so command heavy that you get tired playing it because just learning the interface takes a month. Not to say good games that have those are not good, it's just that this one was done just right I think.
I have just about got enough game time now where I want to try some on-line matches with some, I owe Porkchop a game when he gets back so if any would like to try let me know and we will give it a go.

I'm interested in some online play and can also provide a Teamspeak server if wanted, might be nice for group play :)
