Can all the centrally directed weapons fire at the same time?
I' m trying to get this more clear, i played Ulsan and i had been able to scatter the formations, so happened that ships of both side, in different part of the battle, were between two adversary ship (Gromboy was, in a very short distance, between two japanese ships.
There were a lot of explosion so i was not quite sure if she was actually able to fire with all centrally dircted guns placed on right on the ship on the right side, and the some for the other side.
This because the targeted ship was one of the two

I think the question you're trying to ask is this: "If a ship with centrally directed guns has an assigned target to port, will the centrally directed guns on the starboard side fire at a different target to starboard at the same time?"
I'm afraid I have to answer that I'm not sure. I think I've seen centrally directed guns firing to both sides at once in some battles. However, I've seen other battles where that definitely did NOT happen. This is another aspect of the game I'd like to see ES clarify :).

You have expressed the concept better cleanly then i did
in fact it is REALLY important to know this because It radically change she envelope of the engagment, I posted it in the whish list (please take a look on that, there i posted some suggestion that looks rasonable) because i tried to focus some important aspect of the game.
For example if i T crossed by a weaker force i can still break havoc in theyr formation because i can target the end and the front of the formation, so in some case i would like to try to be T crossed.
I'd be really pleased to know your opinion about those two posts.
BTW, i'm looking at the manual, that big ships have large guns classified as secondary weapon so it is difficult to understand
I think they do, and if you watch you will see if another ship comes up by your ship that is firing the other way , your ship will fire on that to defend it's self , and fire from the other side. I had a ship do this today when I was caught inbetween two CA,s.
I watched my ship fire from both sides . and saw the guns track the other target. Hope this helps, as i am still learning a lot about this game.
Generally, this was possible. Later, when director firing and networked fire control data was made available (as it was by WW-I), your options became somewhat limited in this regard, as there were only fixed groups that could be divided.
However, if one were willing to surrender any notion of all guns receiving common range and deflection data for the target they were engaging, you could have them fire on nearly any mix of targets. Generally, no one did this, as it was a descent into chaos.
It's interesting to note that Admiral Pakenham of the RN (then a Lt, I think) was aboard a Japanese ship observing their fight at Tsushima. They had some newfangled 4.5 foot rangefinders and attempted, early in the battle, to communicate by shouting and voice tube a common range to all guns. His personal observation was that the Japanese started doing much better as soon as the din of battle made this effort fall apart. It's hard to guess at reasons, really, but I think that trying to do something as precocious as this really demands that you have equipment to facilitate the process, and that you be well versed in its use.

I watched carefully and in fact main weapons on the other side fire automatically when another target is getting close, being manned as secondary weapons (i think), thank you tone for cleaning out my doubts

Yea I made sure, and they do. I had one firing at a torpedo boat and a CA on the other side. It works as you say. I new it did but did not want to say for sure till I check. I get myself into trouble by thinking like that sometimes :)

I'm not so sure this is true in all cases. I have become accustomed to the AI sending the gunboat Mandzhur to the Tsushima straits. In two seperate japanese campaigns I have intercepted it with a mixed force of PC's and TB's. In both instances the PC's engaged the Mandzhur on its starboard side while I sent the TB's down the port side. I was able to sail all 4 of the TB's down its port side at about 300 meters range, each firing its torpedoes as their torpedo mounts came to bear on the target. The Mandzhur never fired a shot at the TB's in either game. Both were campaigns started in v1.015. I suppose it is just possible that the guns on the port side were disabled, but I did have the TB's withhold fire until they were abreast of the Mandzhur, so they didn't take its port side weapons out.
P.S. Got 3 torpedo hits and detonations in the last game!
