In TAOW units are tied to the parent formation they are assigned to when creating the scenario. On regimental or lower level this doesn't seem like much of a problem, since during the time period of a campaign it seems rare that a regiment will switch out of a division. But in longer campaigns, simulated at divisional level, divisions transfer between corps and armies frequently.
Since TAOW will not allow this, I'm wondering if there's an acceptable work around or convention that designers use?
What about making a "roster" style OOB (as in Europe Aflame) not considering formations or HQ's at all?
How important a part of the game is formation and unit cooperation?
What about roster-like formations that are more or less random getting "yellow lined" for reorganization during game play?
Thanks for replies.
