This only happens when I capture neutral merchants and attampt to exit back to the campaign screen. Aux cruisers and Marus are no problem - just foreign neutrals.

Playing the Russians - and getting frustrated to boot!

Sent the saved game and game logs to Norm - still waiting for a response on this.;)

BTW the Transfer Utility does not seem to work for me - it keeps attempting to read my floppy drive - even when I use a USB memory stick - does it try to copy the entire game over or does it copy just a license file? The instructions given on the dialog box are kinda cryptic. Do I have to reinstall from the demo installer and run the transfer utility then on the destination drive?

Where are the instructions buried for using the transfer utility?

I was planning to move the game to a regular 32-bit WinXP drive and check for bugs then.

Current hardware setup:

Windows XP64 (latest patches)
AMD Athlon64 x2 4400 (latest CPU drivers and timing patch)
2gb DDR400 Corsair RAM
SB X-Fi sound card (latest drivers from Creative)
MSI Geforce 7950x2 video card (latest Nvidia drivers 91.31)
Asus A8N-SLI motherboard w. nForce4 chipset (latest mb BIOS and chipset drivers)

I have just used the transfer util onto a laptop that I'm taking away with me on vacation. The file it transfers is a tiny 10k file with the license info in it. I used a memstick and it first said 'there is no disk in drive A' - well, as I don't have a drive A I hit 'continue' and it then found the memstick as drive F. After that it seemed to know what drive to look for bvetween the 2 PCs and the transfer was faultless.

Yeah, sad I know.

The util went wrong 1st time but the 2nd time I tried it, it worked.

You need to use the utility on the machine you are transferring the license TO first, that one took me a while to figure out, since the only reference to the utility in the instructions simply told me that it was "easy to use".

[Edit] Kind of a letdown if you are expecting to be able to transfer the license to a machine that you do not have access to at the moment, or a new machine that hasn't been installed yet.

It would not be a vacation if you did not have your games with you.
I love setting on the beach with a laptop playing games, now that is what kickback stands for. :)

FWIW, I just had a battle with 2 neutrals in 1.012. 1 got away, 1 surrenderd, and 2 of 4 Aux Cs died horribly. When the battle was over, there was no problem at all. In fact, the same ship was immediately thrown into another battle.

Finally got my copy of DG moved over to a 32-bit WinXP drive - and things seem to be settling down for the moment. Didn't know you had to run the transfer utility on the destination drive first!

Seems DG is not quite ready for the 64-bit WinXP64 OS just yet.

My blackscreen with neutral merchants has stopped - and now I'm seeing mining notices from my fleet too.

Alright CWMARK that is good news that you are up and running now. I do not think it is worth the time for programmers to make a game compatible for Win XP64 , now that the new one, Windows Vista is about to come out I do not think I would mess with it either.
There would not be that many that use Win 64 I would think , that would make me take the time to convert it over.

Hope to get time to have a online match with you if you want! Now that I am sort of learning how to conduct Naval Warfare for those type of ships.

let me know if you would want to have a online game and we can set it up. As I am working on getting a match with some others .
