View Full Version : Winter Shock Penalty Question
A quick one for you, Mark.
"Worst of winter over as mercury creeps over zero degrees" was in the news briefing Feb 9, 1941 (my birthday a 'few' years early, by coincidence), and yet my troops are still suffering shock, by the looks of it. I have a formation in France that is in reorg, and it hasn't seen any combat in a year.
A couple thoughts - is this because housekeeping does my levels before the event kicks in, so I won't see the change til next turn? Nah, not likely, I seem to recall getting nailed with shock the turn that it arrives, so I'm probably off on this one.
How about a delay on it, so it's not micro-managed? Is that what's going on?
Or two other possibilities spring to mind:
1> Bug
2> I'm insane
:clown:
A quick peek around France shows 3 different formations in reorg, so I'm not insane. Well, about this, anyways! :smoke:
A turn later, still formations in reorg all over the place. I sure hope it's just a time delay thing.

You crazy man, how can you have four posts in a row on one thread?
Anyway, it's a bit inconsistent I suppose: the winter weather ends on turn 84 with a two turn variable, but the Axis shock only returns to normal on turn 86 with a five turn variable. It would probably make more sense to synchronise them.
I did get TOAW III yesterday, hooray, so I'll try to hunt down the bugs that seem to have crept in via the conversion, and then we can think about some upgrades.

Not EA specific here, but can you or someone ellaborate on that bit about bugs creeping onto the scenarios via the conversion...

I find it the most convenient way to have a stimulating conversation...

I was just a tad confused, as I was planning an offensive to finish off the White Russians and the Greeks, and didn't want to shoot prematurely... :devious:

I've yet to order it, but one of these days... (When EA works on it, and offers something that CoW doesn't...) :clown:

Take a look at the two threads 'Another feature or a bug?' and 'Opponent Wanted': they describe a couple of apparent bugs that weren't in the TOAW CoW version but seem to have appeared in TOAW III. I haven't personally checked them out yet and, to be fair, I haven't heard of any similar problems with other scenarios.
EA is a very large and complex design, so any new problems may be confined to this one scenario: let's hope so.
