View Full Version : Number of TO's Possible in TOAWIII
Would anyone happen to know how many Theater Options may appear in a scenario over the course of a game (not in one turn, but over many turns) for both sides?
What is possible in this respect? Any help appreciated!
I believe that that the only limit is the number of active TO's, which is still at 16 per side. Theoretically, as long as you are using, or cancelling, your TO's so that no more than 16 are active at any one time, you are only limited by the number of event slots that it takes to achieve this cycling.
Thanks Jamiam! Excellent - much better than what I expected to hear. I needed more than 16 - not a lot more, so this provides some flexibility provided I can get the Evil Ed to do my bidding...and that's probably what scares everyone away from them, eh? ha...there's some good notes out there, will see what develops. Thanks again!

This is correct. I also seem to remember that if you start with more than 16 TO's then any option > 16 will never show up even if you selected the first 16 options. So, as JAMiAM said, make sure that you never have more than 16 active TO's.

My "Soviet Union 1941" scenario has a total of 23 TOs. Getting the last 7 to appear requires them to trigger off the execution of certain of the first 16.

Do you have all 23 TO's active on a single turn (say turn 1) and then as you select 1-7 the 17-23 TO's start showing up in the TO dialog box?
I seem to remember (may be incorrectly) that if I tried to display more than 16 TO's anything > 16 was lost forever, even if you selected the first few TO's
Bob, how many events (roughly) did it take for you to do the 23 TO's?

No. Turn one activates the first 16. Optioning the first one activates the 17th, etc. There are some complications involving PO optioning and target unit destruction, that require special removal of them.
You can also use an on-map system where disbanding a unit triggers the effect. Uses the same number of events as straight up TOs.
Disadvantages:
1) lack of a news string (put it in the briefing)
2) If your opponent sees the unit he'll know you haven't chosen the option yet.
Advantages:
1) Unlimited TOs
That's a good tip, thanks!

I used this suggestion by Raindem in one of my scenarios and it worked pretty well. It takes a bit of getting used to it, though. Some players thought it was ok some hated it.
Make sure that the units are supplied in order to disband them.
