0900 US CDT on Sunday and there's an update. Norm's been hitting the coffee pretty hard lately, I guess ;).

I think (not breaking out the celebratory champagne just yet) that 1.010 has fixed things for me. I was using 1.006 for some days and having a stable campaign but updating to 1.009 brought my first string of crashes (code 20s and code 22s) after ending battles. But this morning I updated to 1.010 and played 2 battles (Bogatyr chasing down and sinking various Marus) with no crashes at all. So fingers crossed...

 Norm's wife/family must be very understanding, when does the guy find time for anything other than DG? Indeed, does Norm even exist ? Maybe he is just a brain in a jar attached by a load of wires to a PC which Jim has control of

Norm is spending time away from the family to run a business. I'm spending time away from the wife just to play a game. :hurray:

Now this is where I am lucky, my Wife is a gamer also and a Programer. So playing a game makes it easy for me.

I updated and started a new campaign, once again as the Russians (because I've never had any issues with the Japanese campaign).

This time I got a single crash to a black screen while reorganizing some task forces in Vladivostok, but otherwise overything is working fine. It was the first crash in a while, so the patches are definitely improving the game. Just a little more tweaking is required so that even these random crashes are eliminated.
So keep up the good work - I don't think I've ever seen such excellent and quick support for a computer game before. You guys could teach a lesson or two to many big companies' customer service! :)

I tend to be satisfied with AA and AF dialled right down - at about 4 and 2 respectively so not much strain on the old number crunching or scene drawing. Are those of you who are still getting crashes using AA and AF dialled right up?

Hoorah! I think this one finally did the trick -- I'm 3 days into a Russian campaign and nary a nit. It's been a wild ride so far -- I'll post an AAR when I get a chance.

(Yes, it's a 5 clown kind of day).

Well she has been playing DG and I am going to have to ask her to quit. She is doing better than I am . Now I can't have that. :)
Yea she like games and it is nice as I have a ready made opponent here, and we do game late into the night.
Lucky you say? yep I am and for almost 30 years we have been gaming together and it is great. I feel for some of you who have to walk the fine line of spending time with you wife. And you should. And having time to game like you want.

Just a quick note...

One of the things we added in 1.010 was a midnight auto save in the campaign game. If anything does happen to your game, and you have not manually saved recently, you should always be able to go back to the daily Auto Save.

1.010 has fixed the game for me. The only issues I can now detect are the broken mine allocations, the broken reporting of ammunition and the annoying forgetting of sailing orders every time a squadron has a battle. There are a couple of minor graphical things relating to ship damage I've reported in the shippy thread.

The only item that actually makes the game less enjoyable is the campaign AI which can fight some stupid battles or send hordes of TBs on patrol unsupported.

I've been playing long enough now to say that 1.010 fixed the campaign game for me. A month of game time has gone by without a crash or major bug. Kudos to SES for their hard work in setting this right.

Same here. I can finally play the russian campaign with 1.010

There is a slight problem with ammo resupply. When I enter port the indicator still stays at whatever the ammo was after last battle. At first I thouhgt my ships weren't reloading shells. But when they got into the next battle I found that they had resupplied their ammo, only the indicator was stuck at 15% or whatever it was.

A minor issue.

Last night during my Russian campaign started with 1.010, I ran back into Port Arthur with Togo's entire BB force after my three clippers.

Only about 40% of the shore batteries at Port Arthur opened fire. All batteries on Tiger's Tail stayed quiet while about 80% on Electric Hill fired.

Is this normal for the game? Does the game have some kind of built-in delayed response from only Russian shore batteries?

Togo's fleet came within 4000m of Port Arthur so they were well within visual range in daylight hours.

On the plus side, one Japanese light cruiser was sunk after substaining light damage from the short batteries. It ran itself into the shore and sank with I assume was steering problems as the other Japanese ships in the line turned successfully away from the shore. For the loss of two clippers, a Japanese light cruiser was sunk.

Between DirectX and v1.010 all my crashes have stopped as well. Game has been rock-solid and I am on day 41 of a russian campaign. Still have some of the campaign anamolies (ammunition reporting etc.) though.
