In a campaign game, I had a task force of 3 Russian PCs (Diana, Boyarin and Askold) looking for merchants near the Korean coast. Instead, the stumbled upon 2 Japanese cruisers (Takao and Fuso). Overtaking the enemy with their speed, the Russians pounded away at the Takao from close range on both port and starboard sides until she began to sink.

I then turned my line to cross Fuso's T and blasted away at her until she was damaged and burning.

As I watched her in flames, she suddenly exploded and sank within 60 seconds. There was even a message saying the crew was abandoning ship. I was so mesmerized by the spectacle that I forgot to capture a screenshot!

On their way back to Port Arthur, the 3 Russian PCs ran into a column of 6 Japanese PCs, and barely escaped after a long running gun duel.

Man, I can't recall when I've been so engrossed in game!

Great isn't it? You're lucky though, I have never met fewer than 4 enemy cruisers in an encounter so I almost always decide to turn and run.

Last night the 19 knot auxiliary cruiser Angara out of Port Arthur looking for prey bumped into Togo with 6 BBs, 2 ACs, 4 PCs and 8 DDs. The AI failed miserably here and the 22knot cruisers kept station with the 18 knot BBs and the DDs meekly did likewise so I turned and fled and after 2 hours my 1 knot advantage allowed me to escape. It was a beautiful day luckily with visibility over 11000m and a flat calm so for 45 minutes only Mikasa's and Ashahi's bow turrets and some of their 6inch were firing at me. After that only Mikasa's bow turret was in range and I gradually crawled out from under the extrme range of those. If anyone is interested for tactical use the Japanese BBs 6 inch range is 12000 yards and their 12 inch is 14000 :)

I consider myself very lucky not to have copped one of those 12 inch in a boiler then it would have ben curtains sfor the Angara.

Disappointed the AI didn't have the intelligence to detach the protected cruiser division and send it in pursuit.
