Have just had some early scout unit contacts so far. I can say that there will be more fighting this turn though. :halo:

Any chance of starting a destroyed equipment/troop list?

Both sides allready know if equipment was destroyed. At least non-members of the forum could see a body count.

What about that equipment list?

What about that equipment list?I can't post that. Each team does NOT know for sure what has been destroyed on the other side especially when you take into account artillery falling on areas hidden from direct view. The commanders involved in the battles are required to submit reports to their higher HQ and I'm not going to confirm or deny their accuracy.

I will see if I can get some non-FOW compomising screenshots and post them. Maybe one of a burning Leo-1. :smoke:

So this campaign doesnt proceeed in turns? It's all just one big three year long bash?:surprise:It proceeds in turns however, previous campaigns of this size have lasted well into the 3rd year of real time.

I know, but, during the Island Civil War after each turn it was well known by both sides involved in the conflict what equipment was destroyed on a particular turn. So having a post during that conflict for people outside secure access would not have affected anything. Except maybe some embarasment for commanders who got whipped.:)

Good Luck People. Maybe we can have a look at the archive in 2-3 years.

Good Luck People. Maybe we can have a look at the archive in 2-3 years. That was sort of true in the Island Civil War, but it was meant more toward being a Combat Campaign lite to give interested playsers an opportunity to get a feel for how they work without a 3 year comittment. Besides, the NATO vs WP Campaign is just starting Turn 1 so there is not much to report yet.

We need more lite combat campaigns then, with smaller amounts of players that is less cumbersome to move along.

Hasn't this current campaign been going for like a year now? Turn ONE isn't even finished yet.

We need more lite combat campaigns then, with smaller amounts of players that is less cumbersome to move along. The cumbersome thing is the way a managing the campaign itself. COCAT is an excellent tool but many have problems getting it to run. I have tried using just the forums for movement and OOB tracking which speeds things up BUT you need to use hex or zone based movement system (but then there are complaints of it being less "real" with that method). Also it is less graphical for others to folow along easier.

I am currently looking into a PHP/MySQL system for tracking OOB's along with COCAT but this is not something that can be thrown together without some extensive PHP programming knowledge of which I have none. :nervous: Players will be able to update their unit OOB's in real time and we can generate reports from it as well for posting on the forum.

The best method IMHO would be using all 3, forums, COCAT and a PHP/MySQL website to run the campaigns however the PHP/MySQL website creation tools costs real $$$ that would need to be spent whether is catches on and is feasible or not.

So I gather that there will be no more combat campaigns
that do not use COCAT.
Why must this program be used in order to do it?
It impedes progress on the tactical level IMO. If you didn't have to worry about getting COCAT up and running the campaign would have moved much further along by now...

:nuts:Its not required but if you use it and have some experience with it you can provide detailed orders for an enormous amount of units in a matter of a couple hours at most. This includes tracking all OOB's down to the squad and vehicle and many other things. You can also dump the units to a text file and paste it to the forum in almost the same format as we are using now and what we did with the Island Civil War.

No.

Cocat is obviously here to stay, that's a real pity.
