Which of the 200 something scenarios in TOAW3 (I *will* start having a look at *all* of them on a long weekend or so, later ...) would be similar to 2WIN in scale, OOB, setup etc. - so that one could put the things we learned here to best use? I find that I rather like the complexity of terrain and combined arms at this battalion/company scale. (At other times, I also like the simplicity of divisional/brigade scale. ;) )
Thanks! :)
Road to Rimini. 2.5km/hex, battalions, 10 turns, the germans must delay an overwhelming commonwealth force. it's quite similar in situation and gameplay, just a bit smaller and a bit more unit density.
Edit: Kasserine 43, El Alamein 42 by D.McBride, Bitter Victory Sicily, Rundstedt's Plan Martin (the "battalion monster") just to mention some. But the most similar is Rimini. I like that scale, too.
Some I've looked at that I like that aren't quite so large:
... in ToaW classic folder:
Cobra 44
Typhoon 41 (I think that's the name ... its the Axis assault on Moscow)
Kasserine
Arracourt ... small and fun to learn with
Korsun 44 (this is a good one I think ... fun to play either side especially as Axis and to image the desperation of the rescuing units to get their guys out before the red hammer crushed them)
I too need to spend time looking at the others that come with the game
I like Plan Martin and Bulge 44 but they're fairly large (but I don't like the mod version of Bulge44 (from rugged defense site), Allied units stay fixed for many many turns longer than I think they should allowing the axis to expand the bulge significantly before the allies can respond in force)
just a few thoughts
Kharkov '42 is about the same scale and pretty interesting, a balanced challenge for both sides. North African Campaign is a lot smaller, but a lot longer...100+ turns, but very interesting to play with a reliable opponent (not to be confused with Campaign for North Africa variants which are larger AND longer - and I think quite good, too). My favorite scenarios are usually East Front monsters by Daniel McBride. However, my all time favorite is Wintergewitter 42 by Pelle Holmen - substantially larger and longer, but not quite a monster.

Thank you for your (as always) valuable suggestions, Gentlemen. :)
Plenty of games to play ... and so little time. :nervous:
