View Full Version : TOAW Elite edition and WindowsXP
Hi guys,
I just upgraded to XP and can't seem to get TOAW elite edition to work anymore. I get the "not supported in windows NT" message when I try and start the game.
I've searched the older threads on this matter and tried setting the exe's to start in 95, 2000, etc compatibitlity modes but I still get the error message.
I have it patched to 1.07 and even tried running it with VDMS sound but no luck.
I hoep someone has a solution aside from changing OS's.
Cheers,
BKP

I'm not any help on Manimal's question, just another potential problem- sharer. I "missed" TOAW because I have been an inactive gamer for several years. I am back now and, coincidentally, am ordering today a copy of TOAW Century to try and catch up with the experience. Will I be able to run TOAW (any? all?) on my Dell Pentium 4 with XP Home without major retooling?
I can do basic downloading and patching, but am basically a computer dope beyond that... I hope any reply to Manimal will also be of benefit to my baby steps back into the world of gaming. Thanks, all.

Great to see a steady stream of people joining / coming back to the community ! It pays testament to the attraction of this game, which hits a real niche in the market that nothing else I've seen does !
Unfortunately I can't help on the technical issue, but have you also reviewed the forum at 'TheBlitz.org' - I can't believe that between that site and this the problem hasn't been fully analysed and answered.

Thanks for the suggestion, GunnerC. I will try to do better homework to find the answer. I did a quick search and didn't find anything specific, but you're right, the truth is out there...
Coming back to the hobby was easy.. the variable was time, which I happily possess now.. I started with Tactics II, Gettysburg, etc. I still have paper copies of War in the Pacific and Wacht am Rhein, etc. Just retired and finding my way in again! Sorry, off topic.. I will get off this thread...

After a short while you'll soon learn that the longer threads bear no resemblance to the topic title !

Yes. Considering the minimum requirements are a Pentium 133 or higher with 16mb RAM, don't worry ;).
