As requested I am posting here my Savegame file, to which I cannot access since the patch. The post is quoted below for full details.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to chime in to say, finish any scenarios you are currently playing before loading the patch. (This may seem obvious, but was not to me at the time)

I loaded one of my save games after the patch install. It worked fine, but after saving my position and re-entering the game and trying to load that save I get about 30 error message boxs appear on the screen that say *INVALID POINT passed to getweather function*

I cannot open the save even after reverting to my original install because it says that the save is from a later version and cannot be opened.

I can no longer play this scenario which has taken me a few days to play and still not finished. I admit that this is most probably my fault for patching and then loading a save from a previous version, but I thought I would mention incase someone else does it

This is with the original database and the scenario was "Reinforcing the Northern Flank" FYI

Sorry if this is just pure stupidity, but thought I would mention just in case

The file will need to have the extension changed to .SAV I changed it to .txt to get it uploaded.

If anyone can crack the file and make it run again that would be brillaint, this scenario is several days worth of play. If you cant no worries I have sent it to AGSI support in this hope also.

Cheers

I can't seem to get the suffix *.txt switched to .SAV.

Can you put it into a *.Zip file and re-post it?

I have managed to try and open this saved game file in both 3.7.0 and in 3.7.1.

When I try with 3.7.1, I get the same error that you described; multiple GetWeather Error windows pop up.

When I try to open it with 3.7.0, the program says that this file is made with 3.7.1. Are you certain that this was the last Saved Game you had before you upgraded with patch 3.7.1?

Have you opened or done anything to this file with the 3.7.1 Game or Editors? That is how it appears to me.

If you still have them, perhaps you could post Save3 and I can see if I can get that game loaded. Not having much luck with Save4.

Save3 works fine and I can post that here for you now.

I saved to Save4 with version 3.7.0.0 then upgraded to 3.7.1.0

I then opened Save4 with 3.7.1.0 with no problems or errors.

After some normal play I saved to Save4 using 3.7.1.0 then quit.

Some time later I ran Harpoon 3.7.1.0 and tried to use the *load file* command to open Save4.

The spoken of errors then occured.

Those are my full actions with that file leading up to the incident. ;)

Save3 is quite an old one, I stopped using that a while back, so you might find my situation early in the scenario :D

I concur. I can open Save3 with no problem. I strongly suspect that Save4 is a lost cause.

If you want to continue this particular scenario, you are probably going to have to re-start from Save3 and abandon Save4. I suspect that the problem you are encountering may be related to the Bug Report: Fly off the world (http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1174536) that I've already posted. I can't prove it since I cannot open your file. :D

I know that you are angry, now, but you have just taught yourself an invaluable lesson:

1) Save often.
2) Save under different names.

Better that you should learn it early than after playing or designing a HUGE scenario and finding the same problem that one file gets corrupted. :upset:

Yeah I think that scenario for me is busted.

I thought I saved often, but not often enough it seems, I have a nasty habit of saving to the same file for convenience, but I wont be doing that again. I was really enjoying that scenario. I may revisit it with Save3, but who is to say if the same thing will happen again. I may just have to start again from the beginning.

But not right now ive almost finished *tremors* from the cold war battleset, so ive been keeping my mind occupied :D

I would not say I was angry, im frustrated at myself more than anything. But hell I have alot of scenarios to get cracking with, some im not wasting any time mourning its loss :D

Thanks for looking at it anyways, you can probably see from save3 what I was up to lol

You certainly have the right attitude about it. This just a game, after all. Nothing to lose sleep over. If only some other fellows could have that same attitude. :D

Here's a procedure that I use. When I start playing a game, the first save I make is 99_Name.SAV. Then the next is 98_Name, 97_Name, 96_Name.... This way, the most recent save is always the one that shows up at the top of my list in the ScenLoad window.

Good hunting.

Thats correct im just going to soldier on and play more scenarios :D

Besides I think the outcome was quite certain from Save4, perhaps the AI smelt defeat and corrupted the file lol sore loser!

Thats a good idea with the saves, i'll keep that one to mine for sure!

Thanks again
