Hi, I am an old TOAW I player who just got TOAW III. In some of the new modern scenarios, there are forces which contain scud missile units. Under the PO, they mercilessly bombard my airbases nonstop causing major casualties to my planes. Never came across this in TOAW :)

Are there any tips or tricks to mitigate bombardment on my airfields? Or is there a way to play hide the wiener so that there is less of a chance of the scuds spotting my aircraft?

You could try moving your aircraft back, beyond the range of ths scuds...?

You could also try preemptive strikes on the identified sites, you may not destroy them but you might be able to put them into reorg status the next turn.

Now that's good advice.

Tried that. The scenario I was playing was Koger's ME 2000. A lot of the attacks attempted resulted in evaporations of my air units.

Also as for moving planes out of the way, the scuds can pretty much reach any airbases I flee to.

Does putting big ground units underneath them work in terms of spreading out the damage?

Nope, not if they're using airfield attacks. Which, if they hit your aircraft, they are. Putting Ground troops with them will have no affect, as they are targeting your aircraft.

You may also consider using airborne units to attack the missiles in proper situation, of course, in most time they are protected.

Theoretically (not necessarily in toaw3) the patriot anti ballistic missile system could and should help (remember the Gulf War 1990). If you have any, try it and put them on your airbases. But i doubt that it will have any effect in toaw..:nervous:

Another option could be to spread your airforce over all available airfields - if he has not enough scud units around some of your units wouldn't be hit every turn. I don't know if this is possible in this scenario.

i suggest you post this thread in the main toaw forum, you're likely to get more information

works in the real world but forget this in TOAW
