View Full Version : Now getting very frustrated
Tried the Russian side of the campaign as the Japanese one crashed.
Start the new campaign to patrol shipping lanes, split fleets into smaller units send them out. speed up game and screen goes black after a while as though contact has been made and stays black
retried the campaign lowering graphics settings and tried other different things (4 seperate restarts of the campaign) same result screen goes black and stays black.
Im sorry but for me this is going on the shelf till its sorted out as im fed up with the frustration.
Specs are
AMD Athlon 4400 x2, 2gig Ram, ATI 1900XTX 512MB Graphics. Should be fine to play the game.

This is being fixed in the upcoming patch, apparently.

Just keep on practicing in the computer generated battles before tackling a campaign. That's what I'm doing. Otherwise I do even worse than the Imperial Russian Navy did in 1904.
Well this one is different to the one before, this crashes as soon as a battle trys to load, in the Japanese Campaign it was crashing at a specific point.

Same problem here I guess. Playing the campaign as the russians with the 1.001 it still hardlocks (a blackscreen, no crashlogs generated) soon after the campaign has started (approx. after the first 26 hours).
Just bought the game after playing the trial version intensively for several days, and I'm having exactly the same problem in the Russian campaign (haven't tested the Japanese yet). So far I've been able to fight only one battle in the campaign, all other attempts have ended in the black screen. Version is 1.001.
While I very much enjoy playing the historical and random battles, the campaign game is what persuaded me to purchase Distant Guns. So I hope you can fix this problem ASAP...

mbv managed to get through some battles in a Russian campaign. In fact, enough battles that his Port Arthur force is severely damaged.

Really frustrating as I was hoping to get a good campaign game going too. Back to square one.
It's exactly the same situation I posted in a note on this board a few days ago of this "dwwin.exe" break point error. I plot my fleets courses set as the Russian player, then set accelerated time on. Right around 4:20'ish in the PM hours of 10 February the game crashes.
I'll play the individual battles until this campaign bug gets fixed.

The auto-update released yesterday didn't fix the campaign?

Large computer generated scenarios now are crashing out.
Just put my daughter to bed and hit pause before tucking her in, came back and the CG scenario was gone. Music was still playing though? I generated it pushing the sliders all the way to the right generated a title of "Assam Bay" or Gulf?{Not sure of the name..It's south of Nagoya.} A line of Russian BB's facing what looks like a picket force of a few cruisers and a line of IJN BB's. Well. It didnt last long.
Fortunately I saved it right before stepping out, going to see what happened by replaying it again. This time there was no "Dwwin.exe" error and the message of "break points" Just a straight CTD with no msgs.

John
I haven't had any problems with random and historical battles, but the campaign game is definitely broken on my system. Every time one of my TFs tries to fight a battle with the enemy, the screen goes black with no error messages whatsoever. Then I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to end the program. I have no idea how I was able fight that one battle as the Russians in the campaign mode. Every new attempt has been in vain.
I dont think the update was for the campaign as mine still crashes and it was quite a small update.

i can't go further than 14th FEB - game crashes every time i click campaign map
looks like this campaign is over
While I realise the development team is small and this is a "niche" game etc etc. I can't help feeling that $61.95 is a large amount of money to pay for a game with these problems. BTW in the demo, has anyone had the graphical glitch of the ships being half sunk with just the funnels showing at the start of the ULSAN scenario?
