A relatively minor quirk of time acceleration is that it reverts to 1x when computer-controlled ships try to avoid collision with each other. Is it a hardcoded thing (because recomputing trajectories is resource-intensive, for isntance) or could it be switched off? It is pretty annoying when you want to accelerate time( such as in a pursuit) and can't because somewhere back in the enemy line events totally beyond your control happen.

I couldn't agree more... very annoying.

Yes, noticed this one too and it is very frustrating in the campaign, particularly when you are closing in on a distant merchant and it is constantly manoueuvering to avoid the coastline, which they tend to hug for dear life if they see you coming.

On the other hand, it may be that it's a built-in "get off your butt and do a bit of work around the house" feature

My wife would really appreciate this feature
