View Full Version : Next big upgrade??
Just thinking - with TOAW3 out, and all those extra event slots, EA could get a new lease of life ... anyone been thinking about what we could suggest Mark use them for?
OH yeah! But I've been too busy to make that kind of post! ;)
(I'm sure Mark is squirming at the thought... )

It might be interesting to pursue some of the following "alternate history" options:
Less atrocities in captured territories and more encouragement of Nationalist movements, most particularly in USSR, resulting in reduced partisan activity, increased nationalist forces (Ukraine,Latvia, Lithuania etc.) fighting for axis.
This could possibly be offset by slightly lower production through reduced availability and use of slave labour in Axis economy.
Axis move to Total War economy much earlier = increased replacements/production and earlier introduction of new models.
"No V weapons" = switch resources to increased production of conventional weapons.
"Japan First" policy by US = reduced US forces/replacement/production, later D-Day Theater option
"No purge of Soviet Army" = reduced shock during Barbarossa and improved proficiency.
The most obvious use of the added events is to have more offensive Theater Options for either side:
Alamein/Uranus for Allies in late 42,
Kursk for Axis in 1943 - very short, followed by Soviet counter offensive.
Market Garden/Bulge/Bagration in 1944.
I just hope Mark gets his copy of TOAWIII soon.

I had been trying to hold out for as long as I could, but I finally just burst.
Mark, do you think you'll be implementing Kraut's new amphibious supply system? Or is it not goign to work with EA?

Kraut's amphibious supply system is a great idea, no doubt. But i think it might be too "operational" to EA scale...
EA's scale is "above that"...

Could be true.

I just want to get my hands on the thing, take a look at the bugs that seem to have been generated by the conversion and sort them, then think about the extra Events, supply points and etc.
Several suggestions in the forum need a good, hard look.
I'd like to upgrade the scenario to take advantage of the improvements in TOAW III.
My personal feeling is that some of Big Anorak's suggestions below might be too 'big picture' and the game would cease to resemble WWII in Europe (or at least even less than it does anyway!)
Certainly a few more offensive bonuses along the lines of the existing 'Barbarossa' and 'Overlord' TOs might be interesting. But how many players continue the scenario if it becomes obvious that Germany isn't going to beat the USSR? My impression is that a lot of games get called off then, so that 1943-5 is seldom fought to a finish. Perhaps the Axis gets +350 VPs if Berlin hasn't fallen by Summer 1945?
Mark,
I take it that you're one of the contributors that still hasn't received your copy. If that's true, please email me a confirmation of that fact, with "TOAW III (address)" in the subject line. Sorry about the delay. You (and I) are just two of several that have had their games disappear, or get hopelessly delayed, in the mail. I need to get a list of who's still waiting and check with Matrix for a resending. Thanks and sorry for the delay.

Maybe they've interpreted "shipping" too literally..
