After I post it will you be able to convert it to a photo to display with my written orders so commanders without COCAT will be able to see it?

After I post it will you be able to convert it to a photo to display with my written orders so commanders without COCAT will be able to see it?I should, it may be kind of large though but I will convert it to jpeg and see what we can do.

What I would like to do eventually is get the icons placed on the shaded map and have it displayed in a secured/password protected area for each team to see their stuff. This one--> NATO /WP CAMPAIGN MAP (http://www.combat-campaigns.com/spmbt/nato_wp/operation_map.htm) but you will need to use IE to see the shading properly.

OK,
Here is the .uni file. Commanders with COCAT, please study it. Detailed Orders will follow shortly.

DD,
A few points to clarify the info in the file.
-All units facings are intended for their final positions
-Mine and Wire allocations have been indicated in individual Engineer units orders, all Wire and Mines have been allocated.
-All units that were not given orders are in reserve and will remain in position
-All AA units will setup firing positions and fire at targets at max. range.
-I want 2 unarmed recce flights of SU-17s, flying straight east to west, entering in hex PP6 and exiting in hex AA6. First flight to occur at 0510hrs Second at 0520hrs. Is this possible in the operational aspect?

Any other questions please ask.

Here is the .uni file. Commanders with COCAT, please study it. Detailed Orders will follow shortly.Hey Cam,

Just an FYI. There are like 4-6 sets of each icon in your .uni file. Unfortunately with COCAT it is very easy to load additional files over each other and never see them unitl you physically move the icons.

I have cleaned the copy you posted and will use that one as the semi official one. Hold off on posting any moves to the forum until I update the NATO COCAT file. Then I will compare them and determine final positions, then we can update the OOB location threads and determne any intel gathered and contact/battles.

Yes, I knew it had turned out a bit weird, but it is the best I could do.
COCAT won't work on my machine at home, it comes up with a map error every time I try it. I've got it functioning on my machine at work but the terminal at my work station has resolution issues and I can't see all of the screen when I was giving orders, so I ended up making waypoints without saving the orders, than saving the .uni files, reloading and finishing up from a different terminal.
I'd hate to have to do it this way again for turn 2, Do you have any ideas about how to overcome the map error I am getting on my home system?

I have your orders for Turn 1 though, just waiting on NATO now.

Just an update. I am renaming all the units in your COCAT file to match those on the forums. This should make it easier for me to keep up with everything. :D I will probably need you to go through and make sure everyone is accounted for. There are also some HQ units that I could not find COCAT Units for such as 1st Bn(+)/14th Inf Rgt/11th MN Tk Div and 2nd Bn(+)/14th Inf Rgt/11th MN Tk Div. If they are with another of their internal company's that is fine but they will need to be accounted for in case any fighting involves the so they are not left out.

As soon as I have the NATO moves I will compile the final locations, intel, etc and post the actual location of the units on the forums. I will also attach the NEW COCAT in that thread.

15 Aug 06, 13:40
Cam, I think I am missing a couple units (actually I just need to break them down into smaller units in case you later decide to seperate them anyway). There are also 3 missing HQ units that are probably with one of their subordinate companies BUT I have no way to know for sure.

I will post the updated one inthe next day or so and ask you to review and edit a little bit before they become final. Then I can give you the intel from your overflight . . . if they survive. ;)

I have updated the WP ORDERS - Turn 1 - Official (http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39477) Thread with corresponding unit locations determined from the COCAT File.

Please review for accuarcy. The thing we need to check is the unit composition of some of the companies that I created out of the combined records used in the earlier threads such as the ......1 Bn/6th MRR/2nd MR Div unit in HEX EE2.

The units listed at the bottom of that thread are missing from the COCAT file or I cannot detemine their actual locations.

Comrades,

ORDERS

Situation
Weather-to be determined
Enemy Forces-We are facing a NATO task force of Divisional size, including US, West German and Canadian elements.
Equipment- Our largest concern with the enemy equipment is their TI capablity. Imp TOW, M-60a3 TTS, M48a5, M1, FIST-V and M-577 FO are the only vehicles/weapons we may encounter that will be TI capable. Most of this equipment will be in the US arsenal only.
No West German equipment, even the Leo-2, is TI capable. Canadians will only have Imp TOW M-501s that are TI capable.
Morale- The enemies morale ratings are good. Expect stiff resistance.
Location- as per the Operational map.

Friendly Forces- 2nd Motor Rifle Division Task Force as per the Official OOB.
Plan-The plan will include 3 phases
Defense
Attack
Exploit

Atts and Dets- Divisional assets will be attached as battles are determined. Regimental commanders will post their requests for support in the WP secure area. I will assign support where I feel it is needed most.
Fast air, Helo, Artillery, and engineer units are all available for support during OP turn 1.

MISSION
2nd Motor Rifle Division Task Force will seize and hold road and rail junctions in the areas of Moos and Parst, and Aspertsham.

Execution
The recce pre-phase revealed no good intel. In order to get info in the enemy locations and disposition I feel it is wisest to go into a defensive stance until the situation developes.
Phase 1
-7 MRR, 9 TD(-), 11 TD(-) will all move into defensive positions taking advantage of woodlines and hills to create point blank and reverse slope kill zones. Commanders will note the intended locations and final unit facings in the COCAT file. Also note overwatch units, comprised of ATGM, Heavy Weapons and MBT units are placed slightly to the rear and covering areas the prevent forward infantry defensives for flanking attacks. (Hopefully DD can create an operational map to display with this order for those that do not have COCAT).
-9th TR and 6th MRR will be in reserve
-Engineer units have some special obstacle and mine laying tasks.
-Helo groups with infantry riders are the Quick Reaction Force (QRF)
-Artillery unit will be assigned as situation demands.
-SPAA and SAM units will provide overwatch/ prevent detection of reserve force/ draw air and arty attacks.
Phase 2
-To be decided as battle developes
Phase 3
-To be decided as battle developes

Service and Support
-Units will receive resupply according to the winSPMBT game engine.

Command and Communications
-Command assignments are as per the posted list and are subject to change.
-Communications are by this secure forum, private message or personal e-mail.
Co-ordinating Instructions
-Specific unit movements and assigned tasks are detailed in the COCAT movement order.
-All unit Commanders will liase with me proir to the commencement of combat ops.
-All Commanders will post a reply to confirm these orders.

POST OFF!:salute:

DD, you can just place these units where you think they should be, It doesn't look like it will impact the battle in this turn.

Any chance of getting that .uni file somewhere? It would help a lot ... or is it actually finished? Am I jumping the gun? I'm quite eager to get this thing rolling because it seems that my regiment is heavily engaged in OP 1.

Vesku,
The .uni file is attached to post#5 of this thread. I probably should have attached it to the orders post as well.:drink:

Vesku
29 Aug 06, 10:43
Dropped this into general discussion, sorry.

Can you help me with movement orders for OP1 because I can't open the .uni file anymore. I need to know how far behind next formations are and how much I can delay before I'm running into our reserves. Judging from the positions of our scouts my troops will deploy far north in the maps and if I'm going to delay there will be very little fighting on these maps.

Cam, do you want me to stand and fight or delay? I can probably beat the recon that I encountered during pre-op but if there is US troops behind there will be heavy casualties even if I try to save my forces.

I'd like to have all the support you can give if you want me to stand and fight. In delay some arty is enough.

Vesku

I think that the .uni file for OP1 shows that my regiment is the only one that is moving, is that correct?

I have a copy that I modified that has all the moves and final positions. I will post it shortly (its on my other PC).

30 Aug 06, 12:02
Here is the modified one I have. Some units were moved around in the hex to allow for easier reading of the unit name and so I could see things better.

It should show the positions I used for creating the battle files and who can see what.

Vesku
30 Aug 06, 12:17
Ok, this shows completely different end positions for EG and Hun forces.

Subcommanders, we have room behind our backs so if there is much pressure don't hesitate to retreat and save the forces. Try to bleed the enemy but not to lose too much yourself, we have terrain to trade.

Cameronius
31 Aug 06, 17:14
Vesku,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I assume you have seen the disposition of your forces in the .uni file by now. My intent in to create a point blank and reverse slope defense to blunt the US advantage of TI. I have all three of the frontline infantry heavy regiments moving into position in the first 20 min of the operational turn. I need you and your sub-commanders to defend, hopefully you will be given at least a delay status. Make a detailed analysis of the three battles and decide from the support assets we have what you would like for your regiment then divide it up between your sub-commanders how you see fit. I assume that you read my orders post, If you have anymore questions let me know.

The terrain is not favorable to us, there is only a tiny hill or two on any of the maps and some woods but not enough to build a defense line. Do you still want us to try to stop the enemy?

It is better to get all the support in the field at the start because you can't add them once you realize you would need them so: I'd like to have all arty and helos divided equally between three battles.

Vesku
01 Sep 06, 06:21
Latest intelligence from our flyboys hints that we are only facing the remainder of enemy recon. New orders for my subs, read the AARs of the Pre-OP1 recon battles to get familiar with enemy recon forces. Try to destroy them before enemy sends more troops in, no need to be aggressive, they will come to you. Avoid unnecessary casualties. Helos should be safe as long as you don't get too close to the enemy, use missiles and be careful not to lose any. Understood?

Who do I need to assign for the 3 battles? I know Vesku has the Parst battle. What about the other 2?

Vesku
01 Sep 06, 08:25
I'm still waiting to hear which one Rompa picks, then the remaining goes to Stonefire. And then I need ok from Cam to have all arty assigned to these battles.

Cameronius
01 Sep 06, 16:49
Vesku,
You may have all of the available helo, fast air and arty support. Use it sparingly. We don't want to give the enemy more intelligence that what his recon force is worth. Destroy the NATO recon force and during the next operational turn we will move your regiment into better defensive positions.
It might be better to have the 152mm SPAs as on-board arty so that we can keep them supplied with CM and so that they will be less vulnerable to the counter battery routine which favours NATOs greater experience ratings. Let me know what you think of this?
Cam

Vesku
02 Sep 06, 00:50
Sounds very good. Two batteries of 152mm, a battalion of 122m and 8 helos per battle. Four Migs and two SUs per battle too.

You have a good idea there, lets get our heavy guns forward.

Subs, fire once with 122mm and see if it gets counter battered or if enemy uses his 155mm arty in battle then using our 152mm is prohibited.

Vesku

Vesku,
We won't be able to get the 152s up to the battlefield until op turn 2 so you will only have the 122s until then. Also I will strip all of the ammo trucks from the 122s and deploy them among the frontline units during turn 2.
