View Full Version : Crash when alt-tabbing to Windows
... or actually, when trying to tab back into the game. It just... vanishes.
I've also had this. Although I'm now playing in Windows mode and I haven't had a problem minimizing the game.
Now there's an idea. Excellent!
Hmm... seems the game has also mysteriously disappeared when I locked my windows session and returned to it later.

Some systems cannot play Distant gUns with Alt Tabing, especially if you have the graphics setting set on the high end. What is happening is that your system cannot handle the memory swapout that Win XP does when you alt tab. We debated about not allowing Alt-Tab at all, since most graphic intensive 3D games disable this feature for this very reason.
But we wanted to give gamers the option.
This is not a bug. If you cant get it to work, then odds are your system cant handle the swap out at the graphics level you selected.
Hope this help.
Hmm.
Are you sure there is not some event handler that is failing to check if Direct3D resources and devices have been "lost". The graphics card will (depending on need and available resources) reassign memory to other programs when you tab out, for instance, and the program needs to check and possibly reaquire those resources when you tab back in.
