Brillant! So far I love it. Started a campaign last nite (Im just not a scenario kind of guy) and while I find some of the controls to the game...hard to get use to, I have zero complaints about the AI. My two russian raiders (protected cruiser and gunboat) ran into a Japanese division and I sent them to running though a intercoastal waterway. It was great to watch the Russian skippers slow down and pick their way through the waterway (trying to not run aground) and find there way to the open sea. The Japanese followed them in and now their cruiser division is poking its way through.

Love it so far.

Still working out the camera controls...but Im sure that will come.

From the 60 minutes of so of playing, so far so good.

Like the graphics very much. Ships are modelled very well along with the damage graphics. The music in the good is very good and appropriate for the time period. The sounds are well done, but does the incoming shell sound seem right?

Is the damage model done correctly or do ships take not enough damage and take too long to sink?

Haven't tried the campaign yet.

I don't know about that, I watched 2 Russian battleships pound a Japanese destroyer into the ocean and she went down really fast.

The small ships get sunk pretty fast. Larger ships tend to get pounded to bits and burn for a long time before they go down.

Very cool game.

I like the computer generated scenarios. The Chen yen turned up in one as well as the strange Japanese "Protected Cruisers" with a single monster gun. Extremely intriguing stuff!

I love the shell cam.....

Just started the campaign as the Japanese. I chased down a Russian crusier which was hit buy one torpedeo from a torp boat. It must have hit the magazine because she blew and sunk in seconds. Didn't even have time to zoom in and watch it, it was that fast!

The best part about the sinking model is that the damage inflicted has a direct bearing on how the ship sinks! ITs a true physics model.

I was playing the Ulsan before i bought the game and i was finishing off Rjurik with Asama i think. The russian cruiser was a burning listing wreck by then and I cruised Asama around her in circles pounding her at a range of about 300 meters.

Suddenly, Asama was hit by a 457mm torpedo amidships and went down within seconds.

I guess the russians managed to put a torpedo tube back into operation, never would have thought that it could happen.

String:

Ships that are on fire may still have weapons that are functional. Each ship tracks damage of individual sections and weapons. Getting hit with a torpedo fired from a burning hulk is not unusual.

Most computer games track each unit as either functional or non functional. Very few track them as partially functional.

I understand all that and I'm not complaining, I just posted it here as an interesting detail about the game.
