in-game viewer

It would be useful to have access to the ship data provided in the manual while in-game, by means of an encyclopedia (maybe even a 3d viewer...just a wish)...dont know if this is in the scope of the game, but a player could open this reference guide and try and ID that 4-funneled beast and its
3-funneled friends bearing down on him.
