View Full Version : How do I increase my FPS?
Ok have a P4 2.66 Ghz, 2 GB of Ram, A Nivida 128 Geforce Video card, XP Pro... Still getting FPS of like 10. I want to see great graphics but also have a high FPS. Do I need to pick up another Video Card? What do you recommend?
Mind you what should I turn on in the video options to get the same shot's that I see on the net. I get a white box floating over the enemy ships?
How do you get waves along side the ships hull? Or do I just need rough seas or is it my crapy graphics card.

One of the test machines in my office is a 1.5GHz P4 with an nVidia GeForce FX 5900XT. It gets substantially higher frame rates even under high load conditions (Like Tsushima, about 20fps) than what you are reporting. A P4 2.66 isn't exactly high-end these days, but it should have plenty of horsepower to take advantage of a newer video card. Even a garden variety nVidia 6800, like the one in my primary development system, would probably give you substantially better performance in all of your 3d games than that old 128.

This could be the result of running low on texture memory - though the game _should_ be closing with a notification if that's the case. I suspect a beefier 3d card would help here. If it is a texture memory limit, you could try reducing your Texture Quality setting.
Search for "display options" in the game help file for a discussion of the various settings and their effects.

ok Will do............heading down to pick up a better video card. I guess a 256 Meg Video card or should I just pick up a 512 meg? hmmm
What the heck, treat yourself right and go for the 512MB ;). I got my 6800 a year ago for a lot of $$ and it sad that it has already fallen behind the top of the line.
