Looks like a keeper. I spent countless hours playing the CC series and this looks like its in that style. The CC games weren't reflex based, but did require you to think quick. I like that.
Won't be able to take 3-hours to plot moves I am sure :devious:
Anyway, if it turns out good, I hope SZO supports it.

Yeah, looks interesting. At first I thought it was just another RTS clickfest, but seems as if it's going for historical accuracy and realism. The tank graphics look great, too. It's pausable, which is essential for me - and a reason I could never get into Close Combat (that and top down graphics - yuck!). Anyway, something WW2 to tide us over until CM2 gets round to focussing on something worthwhile :D
Yeah, though I enjoy the pressure it places on a player to act quickly rather than have all day to plot moves and examine every possible option, I am worried I won't have the time to enjoy these tanks so beautifully rendered. :upset:   :upset:
WW2 RTS, again?
Real-time? Who are they kidding, I don't have 7 years of "free" time to play a "real-time" recreation of WW2!
No relationship to CM beyond the graphics.
This appears to be just a new updated version of Close Combat or better yet a third person "Call of Duty" type game.
Not really interested but I'm sure if it catches on there will be a forum for it here.

This actually looks pretty good to me! I really like the real time aspect of it. It will seperate those who have good combat instincts from those who take 3 hours to do a turn.
The only thing is.....I hope the engagement ranges are realistic. Otherwise, the battles will look like Poor Old Spike's battles with tanks shooting it out at 30 meters!
Does anyone know what the scale is? Company level action? Battalions?
I read that it is essentially the next evolution of the close combat series. In theme, it looks as such. I believe I read in passing 500 meters is the greatest width/length you will have. Unfortunately, this presents some major issues with tank battles, in regards to gun versus armor matchups. You won't need to look any farther than the 500 meter column for likely penetrations
However, the CC series was great for its time. A new version of it done by these fellows should be good. There will be some intense, quick thinking firefights. A good infantry/support weapon game.
Just checked the link, on a first glance it looks interesting.
For some reason seeing your units/men being awarded medals was just so wonderful. haha
Even if it is against the AI.
I played one campaign of CC-Normandy head to head vrs an internet game buddy. It was very fun and fast paced. Also had a lil strategy. Sorta like risk. Erm, it didn't hold our attention beyond the one campaign but it was extremely fun.
I haven't played a 3 or 5 minute time limit TCP CM game in a long long time. Mb this new game will bring back some of the same fast paced excitement.

Whoa--what is happening with CM 2? I am among the rare few who is looking forward to Shock Force. Is there a problem? Are the graphics bad?

I think the implication is we were expecting a new and improved WWII that perhaps covered the entire west front. At least for me.

No the graphics ain't bad just the period chosen. I think everyone was hoping for more extensive WW2 era. Not some future hypothetical conflict. Though with the way the news is going?

I was hoping for something like Steel Panthers with covers europe and pacific theaters form 1931 to 1949! Not much to ask for! :cheeky:
Hey guys here is some ACTUAL game footage of a fight for a small crossroads village. Lots of action! Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCpJXey_ic8
