View Full Version : Request: Task Force Unit Speeds

I've started a campaign game, but am somewhat impeded since the speeds of my ships are not listed when I go about organizing task forces in the relevant screen. The weapons and such are listed, so it seems a bit odd that speeds are not listed (there is plenty of room in the ship dialouge). Thus, I would suggest that speeds be listed there, so as to help with divisional organization.

I found a mistake in the manuel. In the hotkey appendix, it says that in the campaign game, F7 and F8 increase and decrease time compression respectively, but these are actually reversed. Also, it seems a bit wierd in the campaign game to say 'operational situation report not yet implemented' when I press 'd'.

Bug Report: Apparently the AI doesn't always take the land into account. The Varyag and its companion had snuck out of Chemulpo when they ran into a Japanese destroyer division. The fearsome sight of my mighty squadron must have paniced the Japanese commanders since they ran three of their destroyers straight into Korea. The other three were 'avoiding collision' for most of the rest of the game (making it take awhile to end) as they kept trying to move toward the coast, away from my two ships. I have a save near the end that I can send if necessary.

More bugs (I have the saves):

In one, the protected cruiser has an extremely long reload time for some reason (half an hour to reload and I had to dodge torpedo boats the whole time).

In another, I’ve managed to make some ships in Port Arther ‘disappear’ by playing around in the task force organization screen (they still have their own empty task forces(. I forget exactly what I did to do this.

I experiance the previously reported graphics glich; a protected cruiser is displayed as lifeboats and smokestacks showing, but not the hull. It is seemingly random which ships suffer from this.

Finally, on page 61 of the manual, the display overlay is said to be F3 and F9 (it is actually F3). As the Russians, when I use this F3, I can see all the neutral merchants and Japanese Auxilary cruisers. I must have gotten some subspace sensor technology from the UFO...:)

EDIT: I just encountered an important bug in the campaign that will crash every time after loading the save, unpausing, and then letting it run for a few seconds (crash is at 36 minutes until sunset).
Double Edit: From further testing, this bug seems to be related to me forming a new task force with the Askold and Varyag, and then renaming it.

P.S. Can a moderator rename this topic to 'Bug Reports' or somesuch?

Another AI glitch is that torpedo boat and destroyer swarms keeps getting messed up, so the AI ships need to constantly 'manuver to avoid collision'. This wouldn't be so bad, but the time compression goes to zero whenever they do this...

Started a campaign with the attack on Port Arthur. When I put the pointer on the bottom flag, there are four at the port, text shoots across the screen, then goes black and the music goes into a loop.

Neutrino thank you for tracking down all these bugs. With Norm's epic reputation for supporting his outstanding products I have no doubt that this puppy will be humming in no time. I have one question: When we buy the game do we get a CD and manual, or do we just get a license to activate the downloaded game?

Everything comes with the demo except the activation license. I believe that eventually there will be a way to order the demo on a CD, but that is unnecessary if you have a decent internet connection, since you can download the demo at the website...

I found another bug(?), but it doesn't seem to be all-prevalent. In the Yellow Sea scenario, whenever I set one of my ships to a certain speed, all others in the task force try to follow. I am making sure to select only the ships I want to actually change speed...

Ah, I forgot to mention that I save the save for the above bug too.

Also, the crew quality of all ships seems to be 75. This is rather strange, in that the Russians at Tsushima are equal to the Japanese...

AMEN TO THAT!!

I had the same thing happen. I lost one of the minelayers. It just flat vanished and I couldn't find it anywhere, even trying to flyover blank areas in all the screen panels.

Shortly after this, the whole game locked up on me.

The bug I experianced when reorganizing units in Port Arther seems to occur when the ships inside Port Arther try to get out when a Japanese unit is patrolling there. This bug has crashed two of my campaigns now (Russian and probably the Japanese one too). At least I have saves, so I'll wait for the patch...

At least I have saves, so I'll wait for the patch...I would dearly love to look at one or both of those saves. Hint. hint... support@stormeaglestudios.com
