Yes, houses have a swiss cheese effect on cover. I've been on the receiving end as well. I'm not sure if it's just a pretty bad flaw or the designers trying to model a damaged house with holes in it. If it's the latter then they could have done a better graphics job of it as a warning.

It's a flaw, if I remember right the designers described the corners as being "fuzzy" & not in hard & solid positions.

I've had that happen several times as well: in one case I couldn't see through the "corner" but my opponent could & destroyed my tank. That in my opinion is a flaw.

One has to remember, the video is just an abstraction. CM is not a FPS.

Therefore, one cannot rely exclusively on the video to see if there is LOS to their position.

Also, the other tank may have spotted the "hiding" tank first, or shot through paper thin peasant shacks (more likely in BB than AK).

This abstraction is described in the CM information/rules book and in various posts at battlefront.com.

If you're commenting on my post- it was in BB & a tall light building my tank was sitting @75m from it, no LOS at all through the building. My opponet rolled a tank up & stopped behind it (I had LOS on it via an inf unit.) Still no "tank" LOS on it, next turn I was KIA. He asked why I didn't shoot him on the previous turn or return fire "this" turn. Simple- my tank couldn't see him!

I also remember a case where a tank of mine suddenly opened up on a halftrack that was sitting across the street on the opposite side of a heavy tall building. Blew it right up, but neither of us had LOS "through" the building the turn before.

So game quirks do happen from time to time.

I am OK with seeing/shooting through houses and smoking rubble. It happened in real life. The thing about CM is.....there are a lot of times where one side can see and the other can't.

This can really unbalance games in a big and bad way.

Full Monty and I fought an ME (GotH) where this happened repeatedly to both of us.

I definitely remember seeing a bit in the cmbb rulebook about units sometimes being able to shoot through buildings via the windows, so I suppose its realistic..
Hey that's how the squad leader in Full Metal Jacket copped it when a sniper shot through holes in a building he was behind..

I can see it as possible to shoot through thin walls of a small light bldg, but not heavy bldgs. That also creates an irregularity considering that a small amount of smoke or dust will make the tanks totally blind to each other and even cause them to reposition their cannons until the smoke/dust clears. How stupid is that - can't shoot through smoke at a bore sighted target but can shoot through bldgs?

My usual comment when it happens to me is- that sucked... :p

Shooting through heavy buildings can represent shooting through one window and out the other. Happens very infrequently.

With light buildings....it happens a lot

I've blown up light buildings with one tank just to get a shot with another at the enemies tank(s) hiding behind it. (Love doing that- if you're quick on the shot)
