View Full Version : *** Round 2 begins! ***
Have at 'er, gents!
You can find player #s and matchups in my most recent posts in the other tourney thread.
As always, please determine your opponent's email addy by going to the ladder page, and using the dropdown menus.
I will calculate the round's duration and post to that effect in the next day or so (undergoing a system rest, but will post prior to toasting the system).
Here is the scenario; good luck to all!
(Please contact me if you cannot make first contact with your opponent; if your opponent is awol for a prolonged length of time, drop me an email to that effect as well).
I hate to add to the stress that starting round 2 has involved, but the scenario that you have linked to seems to be for a version of TOAW other than COW. I had a working version of the scenario, overwrote it with this one, and now I can't load it.
Loads OK for me, although I was worried about overwriting my scenario with an older file. I figured I could always get back my original off the disk.
Then perhaps someone with a patched installation of CoW should load the scenario in the editor, save it, and post the 'new' file here. I am in the process of resetting both of my machines, and I don't have the game installed currently. As a matter of fact, I installed the game (didn't bother patching) just to get the scenario on to my HD for upload here. I don't think the fact that I didn't patch it should make any difference.
I overwrote my old file from the disk even though at the overwrite time I was told that the download file was older than my hard drive file. I checked both files (the downloaded one in my 'scenarios' folder and the one on the 'scenarios' folder of my disk) and explorer is telling me they were modified on the same date: Monday, November 22, 1999, 6:36:54 AM and they are identical in byte size: 107 KB (109,713 bytes). I had no trouble loading the scenario after overwriting my old one. Is everyone using 1.04?
Hi,
Bruce told me that he got this problem, so I rename the original one and unzip the one of Mantis -> Same problem as you all
So if you need the original one I will post it in an other thread to avoid polluting this one
Der Wanderscraaaatchhh ooops my HD
It seems too that the file posted is older than the original one !
WHQ posted, size 109.713 21/11/1999 French format date (dd/MM/YYYY)
Original one, size 110.146 08/05/2000
I wait for Mantis return and advices before engaging 1 turn
Der Wanderer
But I have one on my COW CD that has th Nov. 99 date and size just the same as Mantis'. Also Mantis file loaded for me no problem.

Tib,
ER seems to have the same file as me, and date file is May the 8th 2000
you can get it on the thread I created this evening

ER with the Mantis file did youget an error message telling the file is not compatible with the version of TOAW ???
JL
Mine loads up OK, but seems to have a tendency to crash fairly frequently.
which one Tiger? and which one is on your COW disk?
What's wrong with the original scenario?
For the record all 3 files work for me: Mantis' file, JL's file and my original disk file (which I believe is the same as Mantis' file) I have already sent turn 1 to Sturlunger using Mantis' file. If he can open it hopefully we can just play on. I would think that both file versions are essentially the same scenario.
What's wrong with the original scenario?
The Mantis's posted file refuse to work with Bruce's COW and on mine too. It is told the the version of TOAW is not the right one.
and second on my CD the scenario is in size and time stamp different with the one of Mantis and Tiberius.
Could be same scenario but corresponding to a second generation of CD
I won't go steep further wait for other gamers reaction.

The one Mantis provided in his post.
I'll have to check what I got on disc.

On occasion, redownloading the file will help, when the problem is simple bit rot or file corruption (as the case with Mantis' file might be).
Gentlemen,
Time constraints have forced me to withdraw my commitment to Round 2. You're going to need a sub for my games. I will email my two opponents to this effect. Sorry I can't go on. Good luck to all.
Brevet :TRUCE:
I think John Paul is the next sub on the list.
Actually now a bell is going off in my head that there is already someone else (my opponent, Sturlunger?), who would need a substitute and that the substitute was going to be Kovi. I just was checking back through 4 or 5 pages of threads trying to find this but couldn't. Maybe we need a little chill out period to line up who is still in and double check the match ups. ???

Ehmm ... Well see ... I'm a very weak character :o I certainly was not going to go on but I seem to be fated to keep on ... the temptation is to owerpowering  I tried. I really tried. But now someone has tied a rope around my tail and is dragging me back :freak: I'll just have to play quick and badly :D
But regarding the use of Mantis scenario then your 1st turn confirmed my suspicion Tiberius. The scenario seems to only load in the smaller version of TOAW. The 300 one doesn't seem to accept the scenario.
I'm ready to use that one Tiberius but what about you Xandamere? Ready to use the small version?
If it loads for you in regular COW let's go ahead and play it that way. I started it in regular COW thinking that that was the more 'standard' way to go. I don't think we'll run into any trouble with not being able to divide units in this scenario. I would rather not have to redo the move with it's attendant possibilities for better/worse luck (although I am sure any redo would be more 'polished' from my perspective.)
:freak: I'll just have to play quick and badly :D
Sounds good to me! Is that a promise?

 Good to be able to say so afterwards - if things go badly.
 Even better if things go well

O.K. Guys
I got Joe's mail too. Who is going to be the substitute to Brevet then?
He thought it hadn't been noticed by Mantis.
I'll see what's going to happen.
Greetings,
Erik

The one posted by Mantis don't work with opart300. It works properly with opart.exe. I suppose that most of us were expecting to use opart300.
So no opart300
Is it clearer ER

That's correct! John Paul, please assume Brevet's player #, and get in there! I'll edit the info to reflect your switch
I don't think the scenario has ever been updated, so you can just use the version off of your CD if you encounter problems.

Hi all,
I think there are more versions of Market-Garden, since there are scenarios installed with mod 1.04. I don't know if they are modified or not. The version I downloaded from this thread is from 1999, while my version was from 2000. I think therefore it's advisable to download the HQ version. I hope you agree.

Erik
