I have read some of the literature over at the HPS website on the 1776 Campaign Game, but I still have a question about the game.
My question is this, can you play the whole war as one continuous campaign, or is the game just various senarios and four separate campaigns ???
I have played the new Birth of America and it is nice, but it does not have any tactical battles, just strategic battles/warfare. As a result, I was looking for a Revolutionary War game that have more tactical battles, but played the whole war from start to finish, not just campaigns.
Panama,
There isn't one campaign that you can go from battle to battle, but you can play all the historical battles in proper order to fight the whole war.

There are several campaigns to the game. One of the best for studying a campaign itself is Drew Wagenhoffer's Saratoga Campaign (part of the Expansion Pack download).
As it stands though, no, there are no "stem to stern" campaigns on the entire war, and the way the campaign engine works, I doubt it would work well in any case.
I think that BoA and 1776 are a nice pair, to see the different aspects of the war.

if you want a strategic AND tactical representation of our war for independence, try battlefront.com's 'FOR LIBERTY!' its very very good
Outside of the scenarios and campaigns that shipped with the game, there's a ton of user created scenarios and at least 1 campaign (already mentioned) to add-on, for free.
I've been playing Campaign 1776 since it came out in last '99 or early '00 adn still enjoy it very much. Additionally you get free enhancements as each new game is released in the series, so the game is still actively supported, despite its age. Its a good gaming investment, IMHO.
A full campaign for 1776 would be a VERY intensive project.
Figure that folks like alot of options and that each outcome can generate a possibility of five new branches and you get the picture.
I do think that it would be fun project. There are lots of maps in the 1776 game already. But the time ... that is the problem. To put such a campaign together I am thinking would take over a year's work done properly.
Lots of typing and picture maps to make.
Its something I thought about doing long ago but the Napoleonic games sucked me in and thus my dream project will just have to stay on hold.
