Following on from the lack of votes on the 3 Ladder Thread I thought that I would ask if some of the uninvolved forum users would like use their voices for one time only and tell us why they tend not to use the voice they have on this forum.
I know this question probably will get very little reply but we would all very much like to know your feelings on the matter.
And to the old timers feel free to join in and add your comments on why we have only a few common posters and what we might be able to do too get more people on board.
We could always poll the uninvolved...but we probably wouldn't get any votes. :D
I think it's like this....... There are many types of gamers out there and then there are those who game and post and those that don't post.
They may not post because they 1: don't care:mad:
2: don't have the time
3: are unfamilar with the whole site:cry:
A consideration would be to e-mail or PM them so that they could respond personally and this may start them being more active with the rest of the gameing clan. :hurray: While your at it find out why they don't take part in the forum as a whole. Maybe make a questionaire that is addressed to all active CM players in the last year say. That way your not centering out anyone.
Maybe because you have no peronal picture of yourself they feel you don't really care.:bite: ;) :smoke:
IF you take out the ones who have not posted since 2005:eek:  and then the most realistic view is look at the ladder with the 180 day posting. You have about 33% of the guys voting which is pretty good given human nature and all. :smoke:

I'll speak-up...
I am relatively new to the forums after getting back into CM after a long lay-off. I hadn't heard of the SZO forums until I saw a post on the Battlefront forums regarding the newbie tournament that SZO is considering hosting. The tourney sounded appealing. So, I came over here, looked around and thought "gee, unlike the Battlefront forums, these seem active and have other topics I like, too." So, I registered. I stop by a few times per week and post if I'm moved enough to do so. I do this with a few forums that appear active and interesting (One note: the Battlefront forums are not interesting or particularly active...in fact, they are quite annoying with the various "personalities". I go there because its the publisher's site.)
As for the survey, I saw it but didn't take part because I don't participate in the ladder, and I haven't played an PBEM games from SZO. (In fact, I am only now playing my first two PBEM games and am getting smoked in both. Hence, the appeal of the newbie tourney.) So, I didn't really have an opinion on the survey.
I hope this helps satisfies your desire to hear from the uninvolved ;)

Well then, Welcome to the SZO CM Forums, and thanks for the kind comments. :o
It does take a bit to get new players to step into the water.
I "lurked" at the old WHQ (now SZO) site for a long time (hard to believe with my being member #65) before speaking up, which I did only because the members seemed like a nice bunch and didn't bite the heads off of the newbies asking "silly" newbie questions.
They wanted the new guys to ask questions so they'd soon be one of the regulars.
Btw- we need more new players for the Newbies Tourney!

Welcome aboard Clements and feel free to post any time you like. It's good to hear you found the site through the "New Players Tourny" that will be taking place, I hope there are many more who will follow your lead.
The questionaire sounds like a good idea 2054172, i will try and see if i can think of some relevant questions we could ask, if anyone has any they think should be asked please PM me.
PS: I hardly think that my photo would be enough to put anyone off posting, do you?

I haven't voted on the ladder changes as I don't play ladder games!
Concerning other topics, if it interests me then I will post a message but usually I end up just reading them :-)
And for some reason I can't use the smilies in my message! :(

I'll speak up. I have been a "lurker" of the forum on and off. And this isn't the first time I've lurked at a forum that interested me before. It is probably more based on my nature than anything else, I enjoy reading other's posts, but I don't always feel like I have to contribute. I might do so more in the future, but it's all really based on whether or not I feel like I have something to truly contribute to the discussion at hand. Of course, the fact that I'm relatively busy and am not able to check every day makes it much harder to contribute, because topics that interest me, like the ME discussion Nemesis had earlier are much harder to jump into when the thread has been dead for weeks!:D By the way, Nemesis was right doctrinally on that!;)

I have also been a lurker on the CM forum for a while. Even though I have had CMAK and CMBO for over a year now, I have not really played that much, and no PBEM. I have spent what little time I have playing in a CS tournament, and a few other PBEM games. Now that I have more time available, I am thinking of becoming more active in the CM community. I have even joined the ladder!
If I can't see the bugger, I can't bloody well shoot him, can I? British Tank Commander Band of Brothers!
