Hi comrades.
I'm new to EA. Just playing my first game and am stuck in the freezing of the '39 winter.
I'm enjoying the game enormously :D but... there seems to be some ice in the Med since I can't move my units from Europe to Africa or Crete. I'm seeing my troopers in Crete wasting away!
Why is the transfer in the Med blocked?

side effect of the ceasefire. (almost) all naval movement is prohibited. If you're playing a version that has a sea road linking Crete to the mainland you can ask your opponent to move off of the hexes where it links and any chokepoints that would block minimum supply from arriving. barring that, there's nothing you can do. :(

Thats to bad Dan.
There is no supply road to Crete.
But if I disband the unit? Will it disappear forever from the glory of the Third Reich since it is out of supply?
But if I embark the unit on ship? I know it won't receive any supply as embarked but will it expend supply as quickly?
Yes I'm still a beginner:hush:

no. the british crete div is set to never reconstitute. ALso since it's not supplied, if it was disbanded, noe of the equiptment would enter the replacement pool.
You can look in the editor for an exact list but broadly speaking most brits except for the reserve and starting corps reconstitute. Most soviet units except the bdr and dark mech corps reconstitute. Most french units don't reconstitute exceptions: french late war (all), french OOB2 heavy corps (pre 1.8), french reorg (pre 1.8, or possibly a later 1.7x).
Most germans reconsitute, exceptions being some non-frontline corps. All finnish units reconstitute. Most units belonging to minor powers don't, although there is 1 or 2 in most of thier oobs.
But if I embark the unit on ship? I know it won't receive any supply as embarked but will it expend supply as quickly?
honestly don't know. Try it and find out. it can't do any harm.

OK Dan.
I'll wait until Black sunshine shines on me and then put my troopers on sailors rations. Hopefully it will only be few drops of water and crumbs of bread but as happened nearly 2000 years ago will sustain a large number of people;)

If you're the Axis, and you've landed on Crete in 1939, the only way you'll get supply is if Greece, or Turkey, is Axis, and you'll get supply from the Sea Roads (assuming your opponent can be persuaded not to park a navy on them).
There is an Axis Supply Point on Crete at Suda Bay if you've taken that?
If you're the Allies then there is limited sea supply through the sea roads from (Allied) Turkey and Greece.

Thanks for the advice Mark.
But I'm playing version 1.7c and there are no highways paved around Crete (unless they're on the bottom of the sea:) .
As luck would have it I'm the axis. Had taken nearly all of Crete ... except Suda Bay. In the last turn before the winter I decided to take a risky move. Gibraltar was lightly defended and I tried to take the Rock by seaborne assault instead of clearing Crete. Nearly made it and would definetly have captured the gate to the Med in the next turn.
Alas. The god smile upon the wicked. Winter hit my seaborne forces in the sea. Everything froze solid. But it sure would have been nice to get the Rock.
