View Full Version : Do we need to do any work on conversions?

Do scenarios originally designed for TOAW need to have any work done to them to bring them in line with TOAW III?

I realise this applies to all scenarios, but obviously I'm mainly concerned with Europe Aflame.

Ignoring things like the existing dodgy ORBATs and TOEs, and the larger number of Events that are now available, is there anything that I'll need to change in order to make the scenario work? For example, will the map need changing?

Or could I just leave it as it is and everything will work the same, apart from the fact that AA fire will be effective for the first time, and I can work on using the new Events?

From what I understand, if you just open up the scenario in the TOAW III editor and save it you can play it in TOAW III.

As far as other tweaks you may want/need to make... not sure.

Open it in the editor and save it.

We tried to keep things compatible.

Don’t know if this applies to EA, but you may want to take a look at any event that has a range. In some of my scenarios, if I needed a range of 4, I would purposely set the range at 10 just to give the event a chance of happening on turns 3 and 4. The chance of the event happening on turns 5 thru 10 was remote since the random number generator was heavily front loaded. As you know the random number generator in ACOW was not very random.

TOAW III also tends to insert, and then fix, errors in the event list. You know this is happening when you get an error message in with the saved files. The scenarios seem to play properly in TOAW III, but for a nice clean scenario you need to go into the event list and make the necessary changes. See:
