Well, RangerBooBoo and I meet again. We faced off in round 1, where he snatched victory from me in the last few turns.
The map is quite interesting. Look forward to giving it a whirl.
Anyway, we have both made our purchases, and we'll kick off in about a week, when I get from vacation. If past is any prelude, we shouldn't take too long. We seem to exchange files pretty quickly.
Cheers
The map offers 3 completely different terrain types / strategy for your tactical gaming pleasure. :)
Andre your not off the hook and I will take pleasure in booting you off the boot. :p :smoke:

Very interesting map - a pleasant change form the usual random weirdness
Purchases have been made (some tough decisions there - unrestricted is always a bit of a gamble), looking forward to getting stuck in...
When importing the map and units, each side starts with :censored: .
I don't think we get to keep :censored: , but just got to ask to be sure.
Anyways, I would rather have :censored: than :censored: .
Edited for game play.

Hint- it always pays to read all the material sent to you before you begin the game as in... when it asks "Import Troops?" click "YES.":whist:

JDSU- some players would rather not have their enemy know what they have ahead of time.
Oh. :o :OHNO: :surprise:
Puts on dummy hat and sits in cornor.
But you get an A+ for asking!
That's what we're all here for to learn & ask about things we're not sure of!

I would like to play and I am definitely a newbie.
thx
This tourney is an elimination tournament so replacement players if needed would be drawn from the pool of eliminated 2 loss players.
After taking a look, I must say this map looks awesome.
Alot of interesting choices and possibilities.
Definately importable for any QB.
PS: Do I get any brownie points ?
Thanks for the compliment- but NO!
I seem to remember someone beating me in the lousy terrain & snows of Italy recently... :p
What's the word on this one guys?

Ranger Boo Boo and I just finished turn 9. I have taken out two HTs and a gun HT, as well as an assault gun. (I won't acknowledge what I have lost :hush:, don't want to give anything away. :halo:)
Combat is not too hot yet, but it is warm.

UPDATE: It is a turn or two later, and it is definitely getting hotter. Though, I dare say, more so for Ranger than me. In an infantry clash far to the flanks, he has gotten the better of me, and sent my troops scurrying into the bush. However, in the center, I have taken out another Gun HT, an assault gun, and a Mk IV.
For once, I have decent fire lanes. :yummy:
Still a lot of game left. Especially since he has a column of HTs coming in from my flank. I have a road block set up, but he also has at least a pair of Mk IVs between my main force and the road block. Thereby, putting my roadblock in a vice.
Iron Mike USMC
13 Aug 06, 13:46
Well, the roadblock is holding. Two flanking HTs knocked out, as well as the MkIV squeezing in behind. Tally runs to about 13 AFVs knocked out. Word has it a lot of infantry went the way of the Dodo, when their HTs were KO'd.
We are 15 turns in. I only hope my ammo will hold out to the end. This constant target practice is burning ammo up very quickly. ;)
To my opponent's credit, he did spank one of my platoons pretty convincingly, on the far flank, in the foothills.
Anyone else care to drop a mini AAR for us?

RangerBooBoo has already seen the movie of the turn, so, if you haven't seen it, check out a shot I just got off, at http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26012&page=11.
I do not like to brag, but I am really proud of this shot.

Well, it seems that needle shot may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. My esteemed opponent (who usually wipes the floor with me) has thrown in the towel. He started the game with 25 vehicles. By the time we finished turn 19, I had taken out 15 AFVs, which included most if not all of his armor, to the loss of one M-4 and a platoon of infantry, plus some scattered losses.
AAR to follow soon.
:salute:
Have fought to a draw. 53% for me 47% for him. :smoke:

Here is what I reported in the WARS AAR.
A very surprising outcome, to say the least. In my past encounters with RangerBooBoo I usually came out on the losing side. His play has always been top notch. This time, I do not know whether his play was off, mine was superb, or he had a run of bad luck.
Hi plan for the scenario was sound. Send in a fairly good sized force to the central, key objectives, and act as a holding force, while sending a decent sized force around fromhis right, and roll up the two outlying objectives. He would then have a moving hammer aginst is central anvil.
I moved along a broad front. I figured at the very least I would be enough of a nuisance to prevent anyone from having sole ownership of the outlying objectives. I concentrated all of my armor, save two MMG Bren carriers to the central, main objectives. I sent reinforced platoons to each of the outlying objectives. Each platoon in the woods had HMGs and light morters and PIATs in support. The units in the foothills had extra PIATs or HMGs coupled with a carrier for each platoon. I figured the extra firepower would come in handy in the more open spaces there.
To my far left, advancing to the Foothills Entrance, I sent my platoon with carrier along a ravine/dry streambed to approach the flag as unobserved as possible. At the end of the ravine was a low hill, which gave good hull down views of the crossroads and its buildings. There was also enough tree cover to give a fairly well covered approach.
Moving closer to to the central objectives, there was also a small ravine, which ended well shy of the flag. There was a lot of ground cover, but few trees. At the end of the ravine I advanced along a broad front, to reduce multiple casualties from any arty that may come my way.
To the far right, I approached the Foest Entrance along the map edge, then advanced alongside the road to flank the crossroads. Also advancing through the trees, my next group in did the same for the next flag. Both units advanced until the objectives were in sight. My HMGs and mortars then set up to cover the crossroads as my infantry advanced. Once my infantry took the objectives, the HMGs advanced into the buildings to cover the approches from my enemy's side. The mortars were kept back in their covering positions.
For the central, main advance, I kept an M7, an HMG and an 81MM FO in a copse of trees on top of a low hill, which had a clear view of the central village. I sent a reinforced platoon down the center through a depression surrounding a large pond. They were able to get within spitting distance of the small buildings on the outskirts of the village.
To my immediate right, there was a long arm of trees which ended at the top of a low ridge, just shy of the village. I sent my platoon of Shermans, two M10s, and an M7. Riding the armor was another reinforced platoon. As my armor reached the end of the woods, I set up an M4 and an M10 as overwatch, and sent my armor racing into town. I lost one M4 to enemy fire. My overwatch, and my advancing armor quickly took out several of the enemy's HTs and SPs. I was able to quickly get cover behind the village, and set up fire lanes for my armor. My infantry dismounted, and advanced building to building, eventually taking the central, main flag. I had enough of a presence to capture one secondary merely to a superiroity in numbers. The second secondary flag was still under enemy control due to his swinging his forces to his right to avoid my placed armor.
From this point, there was some maneuver, but it was almost a shooting gallery. By the end of the 19th turn I had taken out 15 enemy AFVs. It was at this point that my opponent threw in the towel. I was able to set up an effective road block to my left, and maintain constant pressure on his central forces. With 6 fully functional tanks and two self-propelled artillery still in place, I had firepower and maneuver to my advantage. I do not think the outcome, at that point was undisputed, only the degree. My worthy opponent surrendered ending further unecessary bloodshed.
Did you sendacopy to Palantir so he can get the game noted in the records?:bite: :smoke:
How is the tourney game coming are we nearing completion? Or are we to afraid to jinx yourself to say anything?:crosseye: :smoke:

Did Tripps ever show up or did JDSU get another bye? I suggest his next opponent hire a personal body guard. James really takes these things seriously.

LOL !
My troops in this battle need body guards.
On turn 9. My troops have finished drinking their Whiskey.
Time to roll them up ! (or die trying).

Diggy and I have finished our battle off. A draw was the outcome with the percentages slightly in my favour. It ended Axis Doodlebug 54% Allied Diggy 46%. Congrats to my opponent who frankly should have won as i played an awful game but the Gods of War were not smiling on him and luck seemed to run against him. A memorable fight nontheless
