I have updated TOAW to the .17 patch and am playing EA in hotseat mode.

I invaded Yugoslavia on Turn 5 simultaneously with invading Poland. this triggered Bulgaria and Hungary to join the axis.

On turn 11 I captured Belgrade. The news stated that Yugoslavia had surrendered and that partisans were formed, but the remaining Yugoslavian troops did not disappear, and on turn 13 a reconstituted Yugoslavian army corp appeared in the mountains.

In a game prior to applying the patch, the remaining forces did disappear and reconstituted troops did not re-appear.

Your comments would be appreciated.

In the release version, there was a bug where no units would reconstitute. What you are seeing is the effect where a unit that is on the reinforcement track when the event fires to withdraw the army. This is a bug. However, in this particular scenario, you should just treat the additional unit as another guerrilla unit, according to whatever house rules you and your opponent are play with. Since it's a hotseat game, feel free to make one up, for example, move the unit to a neutral country, like Turkey. Or disband the unit. Or attack the unit...et cetera.

Thanks for the reply. Is the bug likely to be fixed in the near future, as I have just started a PBEM game, and this could cause 300+ turns of (minor) hassle.

Probably not soon, since we'll be tearing into the event structure in depth, when we go to rework the turn sequencing for solving P1/P2 asymmetries. Not much sense spending time to fix a very minor problem, when we are likely going to have to fix it again later...

2On turn 11 I captured Belgrade. The news stated that Yugoslavia had surrendered and that partisans were formed, but the remaining Yugoslavian troops did not disappear, and on turn 13 a reconstituted Yugoslavian army corp appeared in the mountains."

I don't know whether TOAW III affects it, but there is a delay of up to two weeks built into the Yugoslav army surrendering once Belgrade falls: it's deliberate to make the sequence a little less like a chess game. Most of the other minors have similar delays built into their surrender times. I take it that the Yugos did eventually surrender, or had you given up in disgust?

Jamian's right about the famous reconstitution bug, but it usually only captures one or two units per army and you can satisfactorily regard them as partisans, etc., fighting on. Again, I actually quite like it because it introduces another element of unpredictability into the scenario.

Finally, I would say that EA is the sort of scenario that can't really be played properly hotseat: if you do find the first forty turns interesting you'll enjoy it far more if you find a human opponent.

I wiped out the remaining Yugoslav units with 2 turns so did not get to see if they did disappear.

I think there are more than enough partisans without 2 corps sized units returning from the grave!

Also the brave Belgian zombie division can be irritating.

The other difference pre- and post patch is that the Greek and Yugoslavian coastal defence units do not seem to be appearing. They came with 20 turns pre-patch, but have not appeared in over 40 turns since the .17 update.

But I don't want to make a big deal about something so trivial in an otherwise superb piece of work on your part.

I have just started a PBEM game
