Beware of Taktik when he's eating beans! :dead: :gas:

He's already beating me in another game! Have you got CMAK Craig? Just so I know the limitations. I'll post the parameters later today (bit slow off the mark).

Hi Neil,

Yup, I have AK. Any params you'd like, General, and I will abide!

:D

Seeing as I'm only General by default I'll keep the params pretty open. Early war North Africa, Germans vs. British. Bit of cover for the infantry but space for your favourite toys to work in. Formal details tomorrow lunchtime GMT 'cos I'm off to the pub tonight and I ain't rushing home. Not even for you. :drink:

Editied to say tomorrow is Saturday the 15th

Craig and I have agreed the following as, even though I'm technically GoH, I haven't earned it:

ME, North Africa May 1941
Unrestricted Forces
German Mech vs. British Mech
Unrestricted Quality
1500 points on a medium map.
It's a lovely warm morning, slightly overcast. (You can take the General out of England but you can't take England out of the General)
We will fight over a village surrounded by moderate vegetation on low hills where battle has been fought before!!!
THe setup is about to head across the pond with me taking the Brits.

Reports will follow!

Sure you've earned it: you've spent your time in the trenches & on the list!

Now you have to prove you deserve the Title!

the setup is out!

What's happening in this one?

Palantir
29 Jul 06, 17:06
It's probably going something like this:

Neilm85uk steps off & is attacking like a :ogre: .
While Taktik is attempting a flank :horse:!

Neil sees the charge and wheels around to counter :horse: .
Taktik realizing a head on clash is about to happen throws everything he has into the melee like an :ogre:!

Or something like that...:whist:
:clown:

Only a few turns in. Not much to report, sorry to say.

Shots have been exchanged at long range and there are dust clouds on the horizon!

02 Aug 06, 12:55
The battle is fully underway. I have got to the central village first with my mechanised Brits. Craig has got his armour in close (Pz III's and some kind of assault guns) and has set fire to one of the buildings. More as it happens!

Neilm85uk

Craig's been called up for some training so we're at a standstill at the moment. Should give me time to finish the AAR for our last game!

More wreckage is now strewn about the desert. I have slightly fewer Bren carriers, Taktik has slightly fewer SP guns!

The Brits rushed the flags early and were supported by a plt of matildas following up. A trio of hidden guns far back in the Brit setup zone have also fired upon my struggling troops.

The Germans are trying to find an answer (particularly the 'tildas) but are without a solution just yet.

These two are too quiet. They're probably sitting in the desert somewhere sharing a cup of tea and war stories rather than fighting. :)

Neil old man, did ya take a look at the proposed city battle?

I haven't yet. Should get to it tonight. Slight work related delay as I'm enjoying the sights and sounds of Derbyshire for a few days. Back home tonight so a full set of turns to all who are waiting :D

This quote seems to indiciate a Neil win......

This would be a major upset. Congrats to Neil if that is the case.

We are cease-firing. The Germans had nothing at their disposal to deal with the matildas. All AT assets could not dent the early war "Tigers" from any angle. The german tanks were slowly attritted. I found no reason to continue hoping to contest flags and see further loss of life among my crewmen and landser. The Germans will need to pull back and bring up some 88s or hope for stuka strikes if they are to stop the British force.

Niel played a savvy game. He used bren carriers to swiftly get his infantry to one main flag and held on while his matildas made their inexorable advance forward to consolidate the locations. A trio of guns in the back maintained excellent LOS in the early going to keep any German armor advances in check until they were dealt with.

A pair of German 150 inf guns tried in vain to shock or damage the matildas despite a few direct hits, but it wasn't happening. German tanks took pot shots at them and could only manage to ping shells off the thick British steel while they watched their own tanks brew up. Discouraging.

I salute Neil for his victory and wish him the best luck as he defends his "Hill" ;)

I am hoping for a rematch outside of this contests format.

Nice work Neil!

I am surprised that the 150mms did not take out the Matildas. Even HE rounds should cause abandonment if they hit. You got unlucky.

Matildas are monsters! I played a scenario on BoB where I attacked an Italian infantry REGIMENT with about 20 of these things and a company of infantry. I won.....

I am presently playing Taktik in a Boots & Tracks scenario and he is quite challenging. Our game is probably nearing a turning point and I will be tested greatly. Good job Neil.;)

Have a beer and enjoy the moment for all good things must come to an end and I plan to end your camping party on that hill.:devious: :bandit:  :ar15: :stirthepot: :nofear: :rifle: :horse: :skull:

I've attended PONL's 'Defend My Attack' school, traded blood with Sappy, been beaten regularly by the Hooded One (he casts a voodoo spell on my armor everytime), beaten (in another turn) the Schreckster, and even watched the Italian Screamin 205's running for the hills, in preparation for this moment...................... your demise.

The group will gladly welcome you back into the valley. :whlchr:

Kind words my friend! A rematch is available on any map with any forces at any time. It's one each in our battles so a decider would be great!

I shall have my beer and enjoy it. And in a few weeks when your armour is nothing more than rusting hulks on the battlefield and pixelated wives wail at the loss of your pixelated warriors I shall have another. I shall enjoy that one even more!
