One was Joseph Wheeler - General for the Confederacy who later commanded troops US troops in the Spanish American War. If I remember a story from my earlier years (a long time ago), he got so excited when his troops broke a Spanish line that he said something to the effect of "We got the damnyankees on the run now."

Correct on All Counts. Maj. General Joe Wheeler C.S.A. later became Maj. General Joseph Wheeler U.S.A. commanding the Cavalry Division in the Santiago Campaign of the Spanish-American War, and at the Battle of Las Guasimas, the first major engagement of the war, Wheeler supposedly called out "Come on, we've got the damn Yankees on the run!".:clown:
Who was the other?
Former Confederate Major-General Fitzhugh Lee was the consul-general of the United States to Havana, Cuba at the outbreak of the Spanish-American War. During the war he commanded the VII Army Corps.

Incorrect, though Lee did command VII Army Corps, they never engaged in Combat.
Interesting life, though.
They were: Matthew Calbraith Butler; Fitzhugh Lee; Thomas Lafayette Rosser; and Joseph Wheeler, so the second one to see action has to be either Butler or Rosser.

Nope, Butler supervised the evacuation of Spanish troops from Cuba after the Cease Fire there and Rosser trained troops stateside, but never went overseas.
A Hint:
The other American Civil War General Officer to lead troops in Battle after the American Civil War as a General Officer did not do so in the Spanish-American War.

Once again, not in battle. :D
Answer later today if no one gets it.
Answer to General #2:
George Crook rose to the rank of Major General of Volunteers during the ACW commanding the Cavalry Division in the Army of the Cumberland at the Battle of Chickamauga as a Brigadier General as well as at the head of VIII Corps in Sheridan's Army of Shenandoah at the battles of Opequon (Third Winchester), Fisher's Hill, and Cedar Creek.
As well, after being promoted to Brigadier General in the Regular Army in 1872, and commanded US Army forces in the field against the Sioux at the Battle of Powder River (March 17, 1876) and the Battle of the Rosebud (June 17, 1876).
