I'm going nutty trying to figure out the Ladder !
Somebody asked for suggestions about improving SZO so here's my tuppence worth -
1 - First there seem to be two parallel CM ladders, "W.A.R.S" and "Rank".
So which is the most important one?

2 - Hadn't the SZO ladder used to be called the WHQ ladder? If so, I should be on it because I definitely remember playing some games on it about 2 years ago (including a win over the then ladder leader)
But now I can't find my name anywhere on the SZO ladder, have I been airbrushed out of history or what? (sniffle)
Am I even still a member??

3 -Also, there are buttons to display results from different periods from 30 days to 2 years.. The ladder is therefore unnecessarily complex and confusing, I'm itching to issue formal challenges to the top 20 doods here but I haven't a clue who they are, ie do I challenge the top honchos going back 2 years or just the top guys from a more recent time period or what?
Like I said I haven't a clue who the top 20 are..

4 - By comparison the WPC club ladder is beautifully simple and you can see who's who at a glance, just go to it in my sig-line and click "Tabelle".
(I've been in that club for two years but feel like a change despite their great ladder layout..)

The ladder is the way it is because, back when, players wanted 2 ladders, one that ranked them by "longevity" play (Battle points) and one for straight win/loss play, (WARS).
If so, I should be on it because I definitely remember playing some games on it about 2 years ago... Am I even still a member??
You are currently ranked #40 You have to change the default setting of "1 -year" to "All Reports." Once you log a new ladder game you'll be seen under the default setting.

Players wanted the ladder to be versatile to track who was where at various times.

If you want the top players listed by simple Win/Loss use the WARS rank, the Battle rank is to show who plays well & is a long term player.

The ladder Guru did an excellent job of combining ALL the game systems played at SZO into one ladder that is versatile enough to handle each one's special needs. :hail:

I think you asked this before- go to the "User Cp" and change those options from the defaults.

No mate, I can't find any option to change my flag in the ladder to the Union Jack, am I looking in the wrong place?
Call me sentimental, but as an Englishman I'd like to have it there with my name in the ladder because its got quite a history, it was shot up bad by the time it got up Bunker Hill, it flew with the 25 Brits at the Alamo, it was scorched a little bit at Waterloo,it was shredded by Russian grapeshot with the Light Brigade, it was frayed by the Zulus at Rorkes Drift,it took hits from Boer snipers in South Africa, it went over the top at the Somme, it got dusty in North Africa,it was hurt bad breaking the Cassino line,it went ashore at Normandy,and later it marched across the Falklands,Iraq, Afghanistan..

Hey the American flags got a good pedigree too, I'm not putting it down :)

No mate, I can't find any option to change my flag in the ladder to the Union Jack, am I looking in the wrong place?More than likely the listing on the ladder is for the old username that was migrated to the new system. Back then you could actually have a different username and password on the ladder and the forums --> LADDER - PoorOldSpike (http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/member.php?u=1741) as opposed to FORUM - Poor Old Spike (http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/member.php?u=654).

They tried to merge them together but that required information from each user to make the match between the 2 ID's. If you were gone for a while you would most likely have been left with 2 seperate entities after the migration.

No problems, go to "User CP" go to "Edit Profile" then select the appropriate "Country." United States is the default.

Have you thought about being from Gibraltar? :laugh:

Nah still won't work mate.
From what Double Deuce sez, my guess is that the ladders confused because my last entry was over 2 years ago,and I inadvertently spelt my name differently (with and without spaces) in the ladder and the forum, I dunno.
The Brit flag shows alright in the forum but it changes to Old Glory in the ladder and nothing I can do about it, or is there?
