Anybody have any idea what the %'s mean after the number of troops are given for each Corp, division, brigade, etc when you bring up the Strength Dialog (under the "info" command). Also, why is does it not always list a % amount. I have seached the manual for this info to no avail. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I believe the "%" behind the listing is the units remaining strength. So if it stated that the unit was 75% then it had suffered 25% losses. I think that if it shows no number then the units aren't on the map yet.

That's what I would have thought it would be also, but it's not. If you go and check one of the games you are playing, you will see that the % is significantly lower than the actual strength that you have left (ie not even close so that you need to actually calculate it). So still wondering.

PS. Ranger, hope you got the private e-mail regarding your Gettysburg AAR's that you are doing. Couldn't tell whether it actually went through or not - short summary: good job, keep it up!

Actually, I'm reasonably sure that it's a reference to the "good order" of that unit. I'm not sure if it's simply related to the number of units not in D or R status, or if Fatigue gets mixed into things as well.

That's closer to what the #'s appear to be. I tried to recalculate using a % of disrupted vs undisrupted troops and got close to the answer (within 5%). Maybe Rich can tell us how it is calculated.

As Mr. McClellan was aiming towards, its the effectiveness of the unit based on the percentage of units disrupted and broken by strength value.

Confirmed with Mr. T. :D

Ah ha! I knew there was a variable in the mix I was missing. Strength value!

How many years have I been playing these? 5?

Not only confirmed, but I'd wager you pasted his reply. That sentence sounds just like him. ;)

A little too mathematical for me. :o

I stop after the word "effectiveness."
