The ones that go out when you plow on them, none of those trick ones.:clown:, :smoke:

I thought the 30's would rule out, guess not.
Only 16 reporting out of 93 possible but certainly starting out older than I would guess.
I'm surprised by the early polling numbers.
Yay! We're winning!:horse:

Incidentally all these were in their 50's during WW2 -
Patton (born 1885)
Guderian (1888)
Montgomery (1887)
Eisenhower (1890)
Rommel (1891)
I guess we 50+ doods have a definite edge ;)

30's Rock!
Looks like the 30/40 line will be the dividing line (if we go with age) unless a wave of younger/older voters. I was guessing the 20/30 line.
Hey that's an almost perfect Bell Curve (if you put your head on one side).. And you all better watch out for us 40 somethings cos there's more of us..

I'm not at all surprised by the outcome of this Poll. I think when your very young (12-16) then you tend to play any old rubbish and as long as it's advertised enough then you think it's great. As you get a bit older you get a bit more decerning and things like Graphics and Gameplay are more important. Then when you get to the ripe old age of 30+ you tend to look more for gameplay and can overlook the graphical shortcomings of some of the games we play.
I started off with strategy games when Civ 2 came out on the Playstation and was hooked for about 2 years till i bought a PC and discovered CM.
CM and most wargames are more about planning and strategy than the majority of Video games and appeal less to the Bang Bang Whizz kids who make up the majority of the game buying public.

I figured on the 30's because that group of people grew up as the first generation of kids being marketed to with video games. You had pong in the 70's and all the consols and early home pc's in the 80's. I grew up hearing stories about my Dad's WWII service and i was hooked on military history from the time i was a kid. Combine the two and you have my love for military wargaming gaming.

Incidentally a year or two ago I heard there was a PC wargame club here in Plymouth UK, so I contacted them to introduce myself, and invited their president round one evening, he was a nice chap aged around 40 and he said "We at the club play "Soldier" mostly because its a fab game"
I replied "But have you tried Combat Mission?"
"Nah" he answered, "we don't play that rubbish"..
There was an awkward silence, then he caught sight of my silver Rugged Defense CM ladder leader trophy, went pale, looked at his watch and made an excuse to leave.
I thought "Good riddance you wimp", and haven't heard a peep from him and his cronies since ;)

Only 1/3 have reported in so far

I think Soldier is a futuristic shoot-'em up, I would have played them at it but they never invited me, probably scared I'd whup 'em all ;)
Hey speaking of futuristic shooters I was pretty good against the Unreal Tournament AI a few years ago, there were heads and body parts flying everywhere. Then they brought out UT 2003 and it was a disaster, the enemy were skinny characters with no meat on 'em and didn't blow apart half so satisfyingly..
Nowadays I crank up SWAT 3 when I feel like taking a few heads off, storming the terrorist-held hospital with my Hockler chattering is my favourite mission.
I just go in blasting terrorists, doctors, nurses, hostages and patients alike, its much more fun. I mean, that pretty nurse could be a suicide bomber for all I know, so its better to play safe than sorry and put a red dotted diagonal line of automatic fire across her white uniform..
I've even been known to gun down members of my own Swat team if they get in the way..
And before anybody says I'm a merciless psycho, that's not true, I always whip out my Browning pistol and put a slug in the woundeds heads to finish them off and put them out of their misery....
Hey Doctor House what shall I tell their relatives? -
"Just tell them their loved ones were in the wrong place at the wrong time, sh*t happens"
Wake-up and let's get the voter turnout up over 50 at least!:bored: :scream:
Strange that 34 players voted in this poll but only 24 in the ladder poll.
How many are actively playing in tournaments or KOH? You'd think those folks would always vote a choice to better structure the ladder or events?? :hmmm:
Perhaps it's community apathy. 56 players reported games in the last 90 days but less than half bothered to get involved in the poll. :(

It could also be just a fluke. People could just be out enjoying the summer all at the same time.
Should we go the "age" route we now have a definite division to go by.
Should we go the "age" route we now have a definite division to go by.
What was the question again?:OHNO: :crosseye: :o  :smoke:
If we have an "Us vs. Them" tournament who would be the "us" and who would be the "them." :p
30's & Below vs 40's & Above.
I guess it's a problem for someone who can't upgrade his CMBB to v1.03 to understand the original question!:clown:  :p ;)
Good catch Jagger!!
I suspect that you mean those 39 and younger vs. us geezers. If not you're barring most of Gen X!
As long as us older guys, are able to ask 5 questions of wisdom to the younger and if they don't know the answer then they can't move their troops that turn.:smoke:
