Looks like this question is perfect for an informal poll.
No need to give reasons why or why not unless you would like to share.
Let's see if I can get my first poll to work.

Good poll! I, for one, will be purchasing H3:ANW in some form, be it digital download or boxed version (what is the difference between the two?). It simply has been far too long since I had a chance to play a game of Harpoon to pass up this opportunity with the new edition. Also, as a "lapsed" Harpoon player, I think I will have a good perspective to do a balanced review of the new offering.
I am going to wait for a while as I said in the forum with Matrix I believe the people who bought the game when it was released as H3 by Jesse Spears should at least be able to participate in the discount coupon. Does multiplayer peak my interest ..somewhat but I also played multiplayer with Konami with Harpoon Classic it was ok but it seemed to much as sea going grab the flag. The player designed scenarios now available for the AGSI version are extremely challenging and there is so many out there with the various databases that it's unlikely that I am interested in purchasing H3 ANW,anytime soon.

No fan of the upgrade policy here either but eventually I will give in and buy a copy, the taste of multiplayer during beta testing while frustrating from a bugs and speed point of view, still compels me to get a copy and see if I can sink a few of my friends before meeting the assured annihilation my rather crude strategies will invite.
Now yell at AGSI and Matrix telling them to ask me (and the help of many testers and idea men) to make HC multiplayer
Tony, as much as it saddens me to say this, we both know Don won't spend the money to make HC MP.

I may break down and pick this up at some point but I think I'll wait to see if the discount coupon is extended to those who purchased the game with the LOK/KEE system. I know its only $15.00 but I think it would be a nice gesture. Id be much more likely to pay $35.00 for a multiplayer upgrade than $50.00.
I would consider it if there was some sort of demo.
I have never played a Harpoon game before.
The DOS style graphics and interface are also a huge turnoff.

There is a demo available for the current Harpoon 3.6.3 version. It doesn't allow you to play actual scenarios. It just lets you run the tutorial missions. Also, you do not have all the features of ANW such as multi-player, but it lets you look at the mechanics of the game.
Get it at AGSI (http://www.advancedgaming.biz/index.php?cevent=page.view&id=41&sub_id=0&widget_id=1).

Well after reeading up on Harpoon and other Naval sims over the past few days, I think I'm going to go ahead and get the Matrix version.
Do the 3rd party DBs work with ANW? I really want to play the WWII and 1950s-60s scenarios.
You have a good person on this forum. Herman Hum a fine ambassador.:smoke:

Bravo! I look forward to meeting you across the ether in mortal combat. :D
Can't speak for all the third-party DBs, but there are some changes that cause them to operate differently in the ANW setup. I know that some changes have to be made for the PlayersDB, but, AFAIK, they all are compatible with ANW.
There are lots of Colonial Wars scenarios (http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/colonialwars/), but only one WWII scen at the moment. Even though there is a limitation for the surface gunnery model (http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42091), the scenarios are still fun to play.
Welcome aboard, shipmate!
