here a pretty cool website my dad sent me. has a list of all the civil war battles by date, along w/ who won. if you click on it, it gives a brief write-up including the top general and the number of soldiers, followed by a discription of the battle.

I read an article in which the author did the math and figured out that the North won a majority of the land battles and the South won a majority of sea battles.

It's kind of the reverse of the impression you get in normal study of the war.
