View Full Version : Uncrewed guns

I just picked up the Campaign Peninsula game and started playing my first battle yesterday. Rebel infantry fire killed the crew of one of my artillery units. Is this unit now toast or is it possible to 're-crew' these units somehow.
I can't find anything in the documentation (or on this forum) covering this issue, which is why I'm asking.

Yes, you can recrew them.
What you need to do is move an infantry unit in good order into that hex. At the start of the next turn, find "recrew battery" in the dropdown menu options (it's in "commands" IIRC). The infantry unit will "lose" enough men to recrew the guns. The guns will be disordered and have F morale, but they're recrewed.

Thank you sir. I got it. I will probably be back in the near future with similar questions. The documentation is decent but seems to omit some aspects of the game.

You may want to read this thread too to get some additional details:

I for one believe the main problem in finding documentation for a questions lies not in whether it exists, but rather in learning how to use the non-intuitive help menu. The answer sought does exist there . . . in this case under information for the menus. Open a trial game and experiment. It's worth it . . . A second problem with the documentation is the fact that their author forgets how familiar they are with certain aspects of the game, versus how unfamiliar the reader may be. I have literally banged my head against a wall trying to follow directions given, and then failed.
Oh come on Capt...at least I put a pillow between you and the wall! ;)
If there are specific sections of the manual that are not clear please document them completely, along with reccomendations for change, and send them to: Support@hpssims.com and I'll see about getting them implemented.
And welcome to the forum merrymaid, hope you stick around with us!

Okeh, okeh . . . You're right, that was a bit harsh . . . and you were nice enough to clear a few issues up about those bridges, so I shouldn't "bite the hand" etc. I'm just frustrated after trying to find something during a game earlier today and it taking a lot longer with a lot more grrr than I thought it should have . . . I will take your advice and forward suggestions rather than rantnrages in the future.
I've found the search feature to be very useful, as opposed to the index and then going to where I think the data should be...
