Today I have posted the hex side river scenario Tha-deua v01b. From the scenario briefing:
"Tha-deua was originally designed as an enterant to the Blitz's 10 turn "short scenario" challenge. It has been revised for hex side rivers (HSR) using a modified execution file (HSR TOAW-COW v01e.exe) and graphics originally developed by Jarek Flis.
This scenario is designed specifically for solitaire play by an Earthling (Force 2) against the Artificial Opponent with Programmed Intelligence, aka AOwPI. It is, however, also fully functional for PBM matches. "

It should be pretty interesting to compare how this plays with how the original plays.

The original has never been formally published, but you are welcome to it if you want to make a comparison.
I have not used the hex side rivers to replace escarpments as originally intended by Jarek. Rather the hex side rivers replace the original river tiles. This both resolves some problems inherent with the escarpment-to-HSR process and creates a new problem.
When drawing hex side rivers as I did you are actually drawing two parallel rivers in order to complete both halves of the hex sides. For minor rivers this is not a big deal, but it is completely unsuitable for major rivers.
This exercise is actually in anticipation of TOAW III. I have two more 10-turn scenarios and a major scenario much like Tha-deua but up scaled by a factor of ten. Depending on the reception, may convert them as well.

Be careful using escarpment terrain for hex-side rivers. The code will result in mountain units gaining new powers in crossing rivers, both for movement and combat, when compared to other units.
Oh, in addition, at least in TOAW III, if you use major escarpments for HSR's, then artillery will become more deadly firing across the rivers.
BTW - does the artillery bonus work for all artillery equipment or for artillery units only?

We tested it with ranged units only. The effect is gained only when firing from hexes which actually contain the major escarpment hex-side symbol, into an adjacent hex directly across the symbol. The code lists the amount to be a 150% strength multiplier, but our tests very consistently showed the net increase of casualties to be approximately 25%. Let me see if I can run down the code blurbs again.
