View Full Version : WinSPWW2: "Z"-fire vs "Direct"-fire
Gentlemen,
What do you think concerning the efficiency of the direct firing?
Have you tried to combine it with weapons of big WH (big blast radius)?
What do you think will change in the "Z" fire tactics?
cheers,
Pyros
Pyros, my friend
Haven't got a clue...
Still downloading ... :argh: :argh: :argh:    :paperbag:
Believe it or not!
Baggelh,
Are you using DIALUP connection??
It may be better (and quicker) to send you a copy with a courier! :D
cheers,
Pyros
Yeahp!
Had it all figured out (3 download sessions / 3 hours each). Then my connection's speed went down to 30%... Then had to spent a day in hospital with my son (everything is OK now)...
With my luck, these days, the courier will probably get lost!:upset:  :D
And I'm still downloading! (76% complete)
I think the new Z fire rules in WinSPWW2 will still be used despite their altered characteristics. However this time, you will have to employ smarter tactics, to make sure you suppress the enemy while your infantry are away from the danger zone, and only then move in for the kill. I am optimistic though that it will no longer dominate in PBEM games as it has done in WinSPMBT

It will be used more for what it really should be and that is suppression and slowing down of advancing infantry . . so they can be targeted by other things, like artillery.

Also it must be used with extra precaution because the quite big inaccuracy may result in accidental self-suppression to friendly units if the distance of the unit that provides the "Z" fire is bigger than 4-5 hexes.

I have played SPWAW for years, and only recently converted to WinSPWW2. Being able to lay fire on areas you cannot shoot directly is very good indeed. In WAW, Z-fire is quite useless because you can use it only on hexes that are visible. Now I´m using it all the time. Indirect machinegun and AA-gun fire suppresses and even inflicts casualties surprisingly well. Direct fire, on the other hand, is less efficient especially on short ranges. But maybe that is good as casualties won´t get THAT monumental.
